“Someone’s following us.” Alden spoke in a hushed tone, yet his words carried a sharp edge. His eyes sharpened as he leaned toward the dashboard. Without wasting time, he synced with the car’s Bluetooth and told Xavier to dispatch a unit to deal with the black car shadowing them.
Helena flicked her eyes to the rearview mirror and caught sight of the same car sticking close. A wave of anxiety washed over her, and her hands balled up without thinking.
“Don’t worry.” Alden reached across the console and gave her hand a gentle squeeze while keeping his eyes on the road, a silent vow that he’d protect her no matter what.
The people in the black car didn’t look like they knew what they were doing. The moment Xavier’s crew showed up, they boxed the car in tight. It had no choice but to pull over and shut off the engine.
