He glanced over, and the window of the luxury car slid halfway down, revealing a familiar face—someone watching him with a lazy, knowing smile.
“Zayden Hughes? What brings you here?” Dorian’s face tightened as he dropped his voice, suspicion sharpening his tone.
“Obviously, I came to see you, Mr. Morrison,” Zayden sounded unhurried, pushing open the car door from inside and waving Dorian over.
Dorian’s aversion to him matched anything he felt for Alden.
He hovered stiffly by the door, making no move.
Zayden’s mouth twisted into a mocking smile. “If you’re planning to keep me waiting, Mr. Morrison, would you rather we hash this out right here in Star Wish’s parking lot? In full view of everyone p>
Hearing that, Dorian seethed, but after a tense pause, he clenched his jaw, ducked his head, and climbed into the car with obvious reluctance.
“Can you just get to the point? What are you really after?” Dorian, who was almost always relaxed and easygoing, now seemed on edge. The pressure was getting to him, and his irritation was impossible to miss. “There’s nothing you have that I want,” Dorian snapped, his jaw clenched in irritation.
Zayden replied quickly, “Maybe not directly. But the arrangement you’re working out with Alden? That’s where our interests overlap p>
It hit Dorian then. He suddenly remembered the land Alden had been developing was once Zayden’s. Zayden’s remarks made everything clear, and Dorian fixed him with a hard gaze. “Just tell me. What exactly are you after? You think I’ll help you ruin Alden’s shot at developing that land p>
Zayden responded with a subtle arch of his brow, unfazed by the accusation. Apparently, Dorian wasn’t as unaware as Zayden had assumed. But what Dorian failed to recognize was that Zayden’s plans went well beyond a simple disruption.
Zayden had no interest in just sabotaging Alden’s plans. What he really intended to do was maneuver the entire Morrison family into helping him take the land back.
