Not long before arriving at Cheson Medical Center, he had sent a message to Leonino. No reply had come through. According to his schedule, Leonino should have still been overseas attending a medical conference. Alden hadn’t expected him back this soon.
With a sharp gleam in his eye, Leonino gave Alden a once-over and smirked.
“Looks like even you have your match. I’ve never seen anyone rattle you quite like she does p>
Alden coughed awkwardly. “She’s better off not knowing everything p>
That comment wiped the amusement from Leonino’s face. “But you should’ve told Helena it was her voice that pulled you through in the operating room p>
The memory of that surgery lingered. A team of elite surgeons, including Leonino, had worked to save Alden.
Silence stretched between them before Alden finally said, “My injuries were something doctors could fix. But hers? They’re hidden too deep to reach with scalpels p>
Alden knew that was why Helena had forgotten about everything—even him.
Leonino gave a weary sigh. “I can patch up your injuries, but the rest? That’s beyond my reach. While you’re here, let me run a quick checkup p>
Meanwhile, Helena waited patiently outside the room.
Leonino’s assistant approached and handed her a glass of water, glancing at her with faint curiosity.
As the minutes ticked by, Helena began to sense something odd. It felt like every nurse or orderly who walked past was deliberately taking notice of her. She’d seen two of them loop around multiple times already.
Helena touched her face, puzzled.
When the assistant came over again, asking if she needed anything, Helena asked, “Sorry, but… am I not supposed to wait out here p>
A nervous smile crept onto the assistant’s face. “Ms. Ellis, are you here as Mr. Wilson’s family p>

The words hit Helena like a jolt. Her eyes widened in disbelief. The moment she realized she’d said too much, the assistant quickly told Helena not to overthink it.
But the idea had already settled in Helena’s mind before she could stop it.
She recalled Alden calling “Nyno” in his sleep.
Nyno… Leonino. Was it possible that the person Alden was in love with was actually a man?
If that was the case, then no matter which woman he married, it wouldn’t make a difference to him. It could explain his readiness to let her replace her sister in their marriage arrangement.
Though they had been living together for months, he had never wanted to get intimate with her.
As Helena pondered more, a sense of clarity tightened in her chest. Everything seemed to align perfectly now.
Yet, her thoughts drifted back to their kiss…
Just then, the door to the consultation room swung open. Helena caught a glimpse of Alden bidding farewell to Leonino, his look tender and soft.
Realizing she might have noticed something she shouldn’t have, she awkwardly averted her gaze from Alden.
“The new cochlear implant is on its way. I’ll be working from home for the next few days,” Alden said.
He noticed something unusual about Helena’s demeanor.
He reached for her hand, which she instinctively withdrew.
With her head bowed, Helena typed out a message on her phone, saying, “I’ll be at the office and busy with my studies, so I’ll keep out of your way p>
Alden’s frustration surfaced. Had he ever implied that her presence at home was an inconvenience?
Back at home, Alden settled into his work while he had Xavier drive Helena back to Nexus TV.
For once, Helena didn’t hesitate and gave her consent straight away. As they paused at a traffic light, Helena suddenly turned toward Xavier.

Xavier tensed, sensing the question he had been expecting was coming. Alden had given him a clear instruction: if his wife began inquiring about him, Xavier was not to keep silent but to provide the best answers he could.
Xavier had consented to this directive.
Helena asked, “Are Mr. Wilson and Dr. Prescott particularly close?” Xavier responded affirmatively, “Dr. Prescott and Mr. Morrison are among Mr. Wilson’s closest friends, though he shares a stronger bond with Dr. Prescott. In fact, when Mr. Wilson underwent his surgery, Dr. Prescott even relocated overseas to assist in his recovery for a year p>
Helena took a moment, then inquired, “Has Mr. Wilson ever referred to Dr. Prescott as… Nyno p>
The question caught Xavier so off guard that he missed accelerating as the traffic light turned green.
