A few days before, Rylan had gotten a clue about Delaney’s remains. He quickly reached out to Alden, thinking he could squeeze some benefits out of him. Normally, with Rylan’s sharp mind, he would never have acted so recklessly before his injury.
But now, with his legs crippled and his desire to take back the Wilson Group burning, he was growing more desperate and losing patience.
Maisie, on the other hand, stayed calm for once.
She had a clear read on Alden—he was the type who’d never let someone like Rylan take control.
So, while Rylan ran around digging up every possible site for Delaney’s body, Maisie quietly had her team check out a few ideal spots to set traps, hoping Alden would walk right into one of them.
But Alden turned out to be even shrewder than Maisie had counted on. He paid no attention to anything Rylan said. Instead, he started tracking their recent activities himself.
Because of that, Alden’s own digging would lead him straight to the traps, which only lowered his guard.
That was why, when Maisie had been thrown out of Star Wish Investments, she hadn’t looked defeated—she had grinned like she’d already won.
She had been laughing at Alden—who would be caught in a mess of his own making, tripped up by being too smart for his own good.

But neither Maisie nor Rylan had counted on one thing—despite all the planning and the setup, Alden still found a way to slip through the cracks.
He tore through the blockade like a man with nothing left to lose, fighting his way out with reckless fury.

Rylan and Maisie pulled every string they could to figure out Alden’s condition, but the hospital was sealed tight. Not a whisper leaked out. Hour by hour, their nerves frayed. Fearing Alden might resurface at any moment, they made a snap decision to get out of Cheson while they still could.

As panic crept up and sweat chilled Rylan’s back, the car doors burst open. A crew of sharp, silent bodyguards sprang out. Without wasting time, they shattered the windows, dragged out a screaming Maisie and a flailing Rylan, bound them tight, and shoved the pair into one of their own cars like cargo.
The whole thing was done and dusted in less than three minutes.
During the ride, both Maisie and Rylan were caught between fear and rage, yelling nonstop and demanding to know who had taken them.
