“Understood,” Xavier replied, but his furrowed brow quickly returned. Having witnessed everything Eleanino had done to Helena, Xavier couldn’t bear the thought of Helena having any more contact with that madwoman.

Alden let out a deep breath and then spoke, trying to ease his loyal man’s worries. “I get that you’re trying to have my back. But I know Helena. If Eleanino tried to make a deal, she’d say yes to anything just to help me. Xavier, I can’t let her go through more for my sake p>

Both Alden and Xavier froze for a moment, their gazes shifting toward the door. As expected, Helena pushed the office door open and entered, moving with effortless grace.
