Eleanor was gently carried to the infirmary. Laurence arranged for two security guards to stand sentinel at the door. He was about to step inside and have a private conversation with Eleanor.
Helena wanted to join him, but he held her back.
“Helena, take a breath. For now, focus on your work. By the end of the day, you’ll get the answers you seek,” he reassured her. Helena nodded, but an unsettling feeling gnawed at her insides. Moments ago, it felt as if Eleanor was on the brink of revealing that the necklace was no longer in her possession.
Could it be that, in just a single night, Eleanor had already sold the necklace?
Helena returned to the office, where Dominick had sent her a fifteen-minute self-introduction video he’d skillfully edited for her.
After watching it, she was on cloud nine and quickly forwarded it to Valeria, adding a cheerful note. “Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!” Valeria seemed swamped and hadn’t responded.
When Helena checked her phone again after a stretch of work, she realized she had sent the message to the wrong contact.
The message meant for Valeria had mistakenly landed in Alden’s chat instead!
Even more stunning was that Alden actually replied. “Not bad.” Helena texted back, “I think so too. I really need to thank Dominick for his help p>
Seeing the message, Alden paused.
He suddenly connected the dots, realizing that the colleague who filmed the video for Helena was a man. And Helena seemed close to him.
Could it be that male director who’d called the shots for Helena during his visit to Nexus TV? Or…
Alden frowned slightly, lost in a web of thoughts.
Xavier, sensing something amiss, leaned in and asked quietly, “Mr. Wilson, our team has secured the pearl necklace. Should we deliver it straight to Mrs. Frida Wilson p>
Alden waved his hand dismissively. “No need. Grandma knows I wouldn’t do something that reckless p>
After the necklace was stolen last night, Alden had already begun to piece together the puzzle. It was likely the pawn Rylan had placed within Nexus TV who had made the move. The objective was to undermine the relationship between Frida and him during the family gathering. But what did Rylan really know? That fool would never grasp the bigger picture.

Inside the infirmary, Eleanor had already regained consciousness. She gripped her phone, repeatedly calling Rylan, but to no avail. Rylan had been one of the financial backers for Nexus TV, too, and it was he who had instructed her to steal Helena’s necklace just the day before.
Eleanor had believed that Rylan and Dorian harbored a grudge, and that taking the necklace was meant to humiliate Dorian. But now, all she could think about was saving her own skin. Yet Rylan continued to ignore her calls.
Desperation washed over her, and she broke down completely. Just then, Laurence’s hand settled on her shoulder.
“What’s wrong? Rylan won’t answer your calls?” he asked, concern etched on his face.
Eleanor quickly seized Laurence’s hand, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Mr. Palmer, I swear I didn’t mean to break the contract. Please, help me. I can’t face the police p>
Laurence regarded her with a lustful gaze. “Eleanor, I can put in a good word for you at the station. They might go easy on the compensation and let you walk away with some dignity. But tell me, what’s in it for me p>
Eleanor grasped his meaning instantly.
She was well aware that Laurence had been eyeing her and other young female anchors for a long time, biding his time like a predator waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Yet here she stood, trapped with no way out.
Suppressing her revulsion, Eleanor slowly began to remove her clothes.
As she was forced onto the floor, her hatred burned fiercer with every passing second.
She swore to herself that she would have her revenge on Helena—no matter the cost.
