Kristine’s expression shifted instantly. She grabbed the staff member by the arm. “Which floor p>
“Second floor. Room 208!” the staff member cried. Her legs gave way and she collapsed to the ground, shaking uncontrollably. “It’s horrible. There are so many people in there. They’re all dead p>
Taking the emergency stairs two at a time, Kristine sprinted to the second floor.
She reached Room 208 within moments. The door had been left wide open. A heavy metallic odor hung in the air — unmistakably the smell of blood. Several bodies were scattered across the floor.
Kristine immediately looked toward Azariah, then toward his girlfriend near the window. They had clearly tried to flee that way, only to be stopped and killed before they could escape. Among the remaining bodies, one man wore a white T-shirt and floral shorts, while the others were dressed in suits — the five men she had arranged through a security firm, hired specifically to keep Azariah and his girlfriend safe. The man in the white T-shirt and floral shorts she did not recognize.
Slowly, Kristine turned her head and leveled Colton with a sharp, icy stare.
