Colton’s eyes flew open.
While he was still struggling to absorb her words, a sharp noise echoed from upstairs. He looked toward the closed door above, his normally cold stare swirling with emotions he was fighting to contain.
Inside her room, Kristine leaned against the door and released a heavy breath.
There was no future left for the two of them.
Her bag vibrated with an incoming message. She pulled out her phone, and genuine surprise crossed her face when she saw Asher’s name on the screen. Opening it, she found only a simple check-in — asking how she was and whether she was still in Gridron.

Not giving it much thought, Kristine set her phone aside and headed for the bathroom.
