Earlier, the so-called overseas money-laundering case tied to K&C Entertainment had been reported by Colton himself, and the accusation had no factual basis whatsoever. Even now, Justin could not fully understand his motive for doing something so extreme. Still, as legal counsel for Yates Group, he knew it was his duty to deal with the consequences regardless of the reason.

He spun around, snatched his gray suit jacket from the chair, and marched toward the exit. His steps were so rushed that he faltered briefly at the doorway.
Watching him go, Justin shook his head, guessing that exhaustion had finally taken its toll.
Vance’s residence was in Parkview, one of Gridron’s better-known neighborhoods, a place designed with single occupants in mind.
Pushing the door open, Vance said, “I bought this condo specifically for guests, but you’re actually the first person to use it p>
With a faint smile, Kristine replied, “Then I should feel honored p>
A soft laugh escaped Vance. “No, the honor is mine p>
Kristine parted her lips as if to respond, then chose silence instead.
Flustered, Vance hurried to add, “I didn’t mean it that way. It’s late anyway — you should get some proper rest p>
Kristine gave a small nod, yet when she noticed the faint redness creeping up to the tips of his ears, a trace of regret surfaced at having agreed to come here. Over the last seven years, every bit of her focus had revolved around Colton. Because of that, there had never been space for anyone else.
“Good night.” Feeling unsettled, she shut the door a little too quickly.
