Helen nodded, completely sincere. “I told my roommates how our family managed to buy that villa in town, all thanks to you, Kristine. They’ve been dying to meet you ever since. Today’s finally their chance p>
Before Kristine could get a word in, Helen had already seized her hand and was steering her toward the backstage doors.
Kristine glanced back over her shoulder. “What about Vance and Ryan p>
“Forget them. They’ll be fine,” Helen replied, picking up speed as though worried Kristine might change her mind.
The moment they stepped backstage, Helen’s voice rang out. “Avianna, come meet Kristine — the one I always talk about!” She said it loudly enough for everyone in the room to hear.

“Ms. Green…” Avianna Diaz, Helen’s roommate, greeted her nervously, her eyes flicking to Helen in confusion. Clearly, she didn’t recall hearing much about Kristine before today.
Helen paid her no mind, already rummaging through her bag and pulling out a bottle.
