“Let go!” Anger sharpened her voice.
“You’re coming with me.” He dragged her toward the exit.
Kristine twisted and pulled, doing everything she could to wrench herself free. His arms were far too strong. Frantic, she lowered her head to bite down on his arm. As if sensing her intention, Colton pulled his hand back, turned, and lifted her entirely off the ground. She began to struggle, but he trapped her limbs firmly.
“Colton!” As they reached the airport doors, Kristine’s eyes fixed on the hard line of his jaw. Through gritted teeth, she warned, “Don’t give me a reason to hate you p>

A faint, bitter laugh slipped from her lips.
She had let her anger cloud her judgment. It genuinely did not matter to Colton whether she despised him. She stopped struggling and squeezed her eyes shut, lashes trembling as she fought to keep herself composed.
Colton felt a sudden constriction in his chest, as though something inside him had pulled too tight.
“Mr. Yates!” Bobby’s voice snapped him out of it.
Without wasting another second, Colton leaned in and forced Kristine into the car. The moment she landed on the seat, however, her eyes flew open. She darted through the narrow gap before he could close the door. By the time Colton turned, she was already out of reach — sprinting back toward the airport entrance, ticket clutched tightly in her hand.
A shadow flickered in his eyes.
Free at last, Kristine did not slow for a breath. She scanned her ticket and rushed through into the terminal. Relief washed over her the moment she cleared security.
As soon as Kristine settled into a seat in the waiting area, two police officers approached.

She stared out the window at the night sky and offered a resigned, almost wistful smile.
How foolish she had been. Having a plane ticket was not enough to escape Gridron. After all, this was Colton’s territory.
“Come with us,” one officer said.
Kristine hesitated, biting her lip. If she fought back, she would only end up detained even longer — and that would play directly into Monica’s hands.
She stood and allowed them to escort her away.
To her surprise, the officers did not take her to the station. Instead, she found herself back at the villa.
“I need to go to the police station,” she said.
Given the choice between Colton’s home and a police station, she would choose the station without hesitation.
The officer holding the car door gestured toward the villa, his expression uncomfortable. “Ms. Green, your case is still unresolved. For now, you’re required to remain here p>
Kristine refused to step out of the car.
In the end, Colton arrived and pulled her from the vehicle himself. Despite her struggles, he carried her upstairs without effort and set her down on the bed.
