“Really? Do you honestly expect a court to accept that?” Colton spoke with perfect calm, as though the matter held no weight at all.
Every trace of a smile disappeared from Monica’s face. Taking this to court would leave them with nowhere to maneuver.
“Until Kristine is able to return, you had better send the antiques back where they belong — or else —” Colton slowed his words deliberately, each one landing like a blade, leaving both Monica and Jemma visibly shaken. “I can personally ensure you spend the rest of your lives behind bars p>
Monica’s face turned pale.
For generations, the Yates family had maintained deep roots in Gridron, with connections spreading far and wide. She did not doubt for a moment that Colton meant every word. What she could not understand was why he was intervening on Kristine’s behalf at all.

Without sparing her another glance, Colton fixed her with one final, frosty look before walking out of the house.
Moments later, the roar of a car engine broke the stillness outside. Even after his departure, the oppressive air he had left behind refused to lift, and silence swallowed the house whole.
Only after a long stretch of quiet did Jemma’s friends begin murmuring among themselves.
“So they really did take Kristine’s antiques. She’s been treated terribly p>

One by one, they made their way out of the house.
Jemma tried to stop them, but her throat refused to produce a single sound.
Two hours later, Victor stood in front of the antiques that had been returned to Marty’s property, disbelief written across his face. Every single piece was accounted for.
“Did Monica and Jemma actually bring these back themselves?” he asked a staff member.
The staff member let out a relieved breath and nodded. “Yes p>
Victor struggled to accept that Monica and Jemma would act so willingly. The only explanation he could think of was that Kristine might have returned. He pulled out his phone and tried calling her, but her line went unanswered.
At the same time, inside the Edwards Group building, Asher listened to his assistant’s report, a knowing smile slowly forming on his face.
“So Colton traveled all the way to Peudon just to help Kristine reclaim her antiques p>
“That’s correct,” the assistant replied without lifting his eyes from the documents. “Mr. Yates is already on a flight back to Gridron p>
“That truly is fascinating.” Asher turned his gaze toward the floor-to-ceiling window and took in Peudon’s breathtaking skyline, the smile on his face deepening.
Standing nearby, the assistant looked utterly perplexed. He could not grasp what lay behind Asher’s reaction, nor what Colton’s actions truly implied.
