Kristine ended the call, went to the front door, and retrieved the legal notice from beneath it. A shadow of uncertainty flickered in her eyes. Was it really possible that, without Colton’s backing, she had no way to safeguard the antiques her father had cherished most?
To her father, those treasures had meant everything — worth more than his own life. Even when money was tight, selling them had never once crossed his mind.
Drawing in a steadying breath, Kristine steeled herself. If her father could keep them safe all those years, so could she. Brendan might be a heavyweight in the courtroom, but there were lawyers out there with even sharper teeth.
