“Half a day. Twelve hours at most p>
Colton squeezed his eyes shut. “Get Bobby. Tell him to find Kristine and bring her back p>
He directed the command at Justin. Though Justin hesitated, he eventually gave a silent nod.
Meanwhile, Kristine had already arrived at the airport and sent a message to Asher.
“Sorry, something came up out of nowhere. I won’t be able to meet you p>
Asher responded immediately. “What happened p>

Kristine chose not to answer. She hurried toward the security checkpoint, pushing forward with purpose.
It didn’t matter whether Colton had been behind the kidney scheme from the beginning. Remaining in Gridron meant putting herself at risk. If no other match turned up, he would eventually come after her again. Getting out of Gridron was the only way to protect herself.
Even after boarding the plane, Kristine couldn’t let her guard down. She kept her eyes on her phone, counting every second that passed.
“Excuse me, ma’am.” A flight attendant stopped by her seat. “We’ll be taking off in about five minutes. Could you please switch your phone to airplane mode p>
Kristine blinked and nodded. “Okay p>
Just five minutes left.
She powered down her phone and glanced out the window at the runway below. Aside from a few ground crew members, the place looked deserted. Soft sunlight spilled lazily over the pavement, and a rare sense of calm washed over her.
For once, Kristine felt truly at ease.
This time, she could walk away from Gridron for good. Her plan was to make Aspen her first stop — she had heard it was snowing there, a quiet and peaceful escape that sounded just right. After the cold air and some hot chocolate, she could hop on another flight abroad, maybe visit Evira and immerse herself in an entirely new atmosphere.
Letting her thoughts drift, Kristine gently closed her eyes. A quiet, satisfied smile settled on her lips.
Soon, the only thing she could hear was the flight safety announcement.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we’re getting ready for takeoff. Kindly make sure your seatbelts are securely fastened p>
Bathed in the warm sunlight, Kristine wore a faint, peaceful smile.
Then a shadow fell across her window and cut off the light.
Irritated, she opened her eyes — and instantly went still.
Bobby was standing there, his expression respectful. “Ms. Green, Mr. Yates asked me to bring you back p>
Kristine’s expression shifted, and she sprang up to run. Before she could take two steps, the four security men behind Bobby moved faster. They rushed in and seized her arms.
Kristine struggled violently. “Let go of me! You’re kidnapping me! This is illegal p>
Other passengers watched in shock, but the men in black were too intimidating. No one dared to step in.
Before long, the bodyguards dragged Kristine off the plane and forced her into a waiting sedan.
