He fast-forwarded to the window after he had entered the building himself. The cameras showed nothing — front yard, back garden, every angle clean and undisturbed. No movement. No figures. As though they had stepped through a wall.
He watched it again from the beginning, more slowly this time, his eyes tracking every frame with ruthless attention.
Then something caught his eye.
He straightened. He shoved the car door open and was moving before Devin could react.

In the secret tunnel beneath the estate, Kristine let out a long, slow breath as the noise above them finally fell quiet.
