Colton’s face darkened, then grew colder still as her words fully sank in. “Good,” he said flatly. “You chose this yourself, Kristine.” He turned to the front. “Bobby, pull over p>

Bobby reacted at once and stopped the car.
“Get out,” Colton ordered.
Kristine stepped out and froze. The surroundings were eerily empty — no buildings, no people, not even a hotel in sight. She clenched her jaw, slammed the door shut, and watched the car drive off with the rest of the vehicles trailing behind it.
Soon, the road fell silent again.
Without a phone, she had no option but to walk. She stared into the darkness stretching ahead and felt no remorse. She simply kept moving.
After all, Colton had left her behind before.

Bobby checked the mirror again. Colton’s expression was icy, irritation etched clearly across his face. Bobby said nothing more and kept driving.
The heavy silence only fueled Colton’s agitation. Kristine’s words rang sharply in his mind. “We cut all ties, and we will never see each other again.” His hands curled into tight fists.
Did she truly never want to see him again? Because of Elyse?
Images of Asher and Vance surfaced — the men who had recently stayed close to Kristine. Restlessness surged through him, and he yanked roughly at his tie.
“Turn back,” he snapped.
Bobby froze for a split second, then immediately spun the car around.
Meanwhile, Kristine continued walking toward the city, unaware that a vehicle was trailing her from a distance. Minutes later, the car accelerated and pulled up beside her.
