A delicate smile appeared on Elyse’s face. “Have you really not figured it out yet? You were never tested because Colton took care of it for you. Otherwise, why do you think he demanded that you return the moment he found out you had gone to Peudon p>
Coldness settled slowly into Kristine’s stare. “Really? Last time, you told me Colton would not even touch me because he thought I didn’t deserve him. Yet Colton himself said he never said anything like that. He is standing outside right now, isn’t he? Call him in. I want to face him myself p>
For a brief moment, panic crossed Elyse’s eyes before she covered it with another gentle smile. “Colton was afraid that seeing him would upset you too much, so he asked not to come in. Please, just sign the papers p>
“So is it that he refuses to come in, or was he never outside at all p>
Meeting Kristine’s gaze, Elyse answered calmly. “You truly refuse to give up until the very end. Since you insist on pushing this far, then…” She cast Brent a glance.
Catching the unspoken message, he said, “I’m on it,” and walked out of the room.
After a short while, he returned, carrying an old ceramic figurine in his hands.
Kristine’s eyes tightened at once.
That figurine was the same one she had sold to help cover the cost of the penthouse. How had it ended up in Elyse’s possession?

He told me how much those antiques from your father meant to you, and he was certain you would never part with them. That was why we came up with this plan. We truly did not expect you to fall for it so easily p>
Kristine’s body began to shake without control.
At the time, buying the penthouse really had been Colton’s suggestion. For a long while, she had secretly felt grateful and happy. No one could have imagined that every move had been planned from the very beginning.
It finally made sense why the collector had later told her the figurine was already gone when she tried to buy it back.
The trembling in her body intensified, but she kept her eyes fixed on Elyse with an unsettling calm.
“I want to see Colton,” Kristine demanded.
Running her fingers over the figurine, Elyse spoke coldly. “Kristine, I am losing patience. If you refuse to sign, I will smash this figurine. It is your father’s legacy. Are you really willing to watch it be destroyed p>
