Only as the words left his mouth did Bobby notice how close Colton and Kristine stood, leaving him visibly flustered and unsure whether to step forward or back away.
Kristine seized the opportunity and slipped from Colton’s arms. Asher had come through for her. The chance to finally leave Gridron was real.
Colton caught the change in her demeanor immediately. The relief on her face was impossible to miss.

“At the front entrance,” Bobby replied. Since Asher didn’t have an invitation, he wasn’t sure whether to admit him and needed Colton’s approval.
Straightening his suit, Colton strode out of the makeup room. As he reached the corridor, he turned to the guards stationed by the door. “Keep a close eye on Kristine p>

When he reached the hotel’s entrance, Colton’s eyes landed on Asher right away. Seated in a wheelchair and dressed in an immaculate white suit, he looked every bit the gentleman, golden sunlight spilling across his features and lending him a warm glow. Still, behind that composed exterior, his eyes held a piercing chill.
Both men drew every eye in the entrance. The stark contrast between Colton’s dark suit and Asher’s pristine white made them impossible to ignore. Whispers rippled through the gathered crowd, no one quite sure which of the two deserved more attention.
“It has been some time, Mr. Yates.” Asher offered a calm, courteous nod.
Colton fixed him with an icy stare. “We met not long ago. You have been in Gridron this entire time p>
A soft smile played on Asher’s lips. “You seem to keep a close watch on my whereabouts p>
“And you seem well-informed about my life. I did not see your name on the guest list, yet here you are. You must have a strong interest in my affairs p>
The hint of mischief in Asher’s eyes deepened, his smile widening.

“Not at all.” Amusement colored Asher’s voice nonetheless. He was simply remembering Kristine teasing him about his apparent obsession with Colton’s affairs.
That trace of a smile was enough to make Colton’s irritation flare.
