At those words, a flicker of emotion broke through Kristine’s blank expression. She looked toward the door, but Colton was already gone.
“Ms. Green!” Claire said, her voice brightening at once. “This is wonderful news! You really should drink your soup now. I’ll go and pull some clothes together for you.” She crossed to the walk-in closet and returned a moment later with the newest designer pieces — clothes, bags, and jewelry.
As she laid them out, Claire mentioned that even after Kristine had left the villa, luxury brands had continued sending new items every month. “Ms. Green, I truly believe Mr. Yates still loves you. Taking you to his parents’ home is a sign that he holds you in the highest regard p>

Now she had no desire to go, and yet Colton was finally asking. The irony was almost laughable.
She wondered whether he would actually marry her, even if he took her there.
