That was exactly what Kristine had expected. She loosened her grip on Elyse and gave a slow nod. “Good. I hope you mean it, Colton.” Then she turned and walked toward the exit.
The moment she moved away, Colton stepped forward as if to follow — but Elyse caught his arm.
“Colton, she’s furious right now,” Elyse said quickly. “If you go after her, it will only make things worse. Let me talk to her instead.” She didn’t wait for his answer and rushed after Kristine without hesitation.
Colton stood there watching her disappear, a deep frown pulling at his brows.
Near the elevator, Elyse finally caught up. “Kristine,” she said, her voice firm. “I want first place too, and it has nothing to do with him. I just want you to understand something — no matter what I ask Colton for, he will give it to me. How are you supposed to compete with that p>
