Conroy could always sense when someone was hiding the truth, so he knew Rory was lying. But given that Rory was his own grandson, and Wyatt had come through the ordeal unscathed, he decided it was better to let the matter go. So he turned to look at Wyatt.

Had he seen that, perhaps he would have let Rory off the hook. However, Conroy’s actions had extinguished his last hope for family bonds. Thus, Wyatt saw no need to hold back now.
Anger flashed across Conroy’s face, and he raised his hand as he yelled. Rory had just gotten to his feet before another sharp slap sent him reeling. Jewell, afraid he’d get dragged into the mess, quickly stepped aside. From her seat on the sofa, Kamila followed the chaos with burning eyes, fury clearly showing.
