Chapter 135:
“Good. Bring your bodyguard in to hold him still,” Marc said.
As soon as Amelia called in Barrie, Marc had him restrain Matias’s shoulders and arms. All at once, Matias tensed like a coiled spring.
With the needle now inches from Matias, Marc warned, “Once I start, you have to stay perfectly still. If you flinch and get hurt, that’s on you p>
Turning to Barrie, Amelia gave a firm order. “Don’t let him move p>
“No problem, Mrs. Stewart p>
Everything was set, and Marc was moments away from starting when Matias suddenly shrieked, jolting everyone in the room to attention. Marc shot an irritated glance at him and asked sharply, “What’s gotten into you? I haven’t even touched you yet p>
Matias wished he could disappear into thin air after he heard that.
Before he could utter another word, Marc swiftly wedged a fresh gauze roll between his teeth to stop him from talking. “Hold still and tolerate this for a bit. It’ll be quick p>

The moment the needle touched Matias’s eyelid, his veins stood out from the agony, and his hands instinctively jerked upward. Barrie tightened his grip to steady him. Marc’s skillful fingers moved swiftly, closing the wound neatly in less than sixty seconds.
Once released, Matias found his clothes drenched in cold sweat.
He was soon led into a private VIP room, and barely had he sunk onto the mattress when Wyatt walked in, Jordy trailing just behind.
The sight of Wyatt sent a thrill through Matias. Even though he’d spent over two years at the Stewart Group, this marked only the second occasion he’d seen Wyatt in the flesh. He automatically attempted to rise from bed, but Amelia pressed his shoulders firmly. “Don’t even think about getting up. Did your eye magically stop hurting p>
Though forced back down, Matias kept his gaze glued to Wyatt. When Wyatt reached his bedside, his excitement turned his face bright red. He opened his mouth intending to thank Wyatt sincerely, but instead blurted out, “Mr. Stewart, is it true you’re Amelia’s husband p>
Wyatt’s eyes widened slightly, surprised by the question, before he replied calmly, “Yes, that’s right.” Since Jordy had briefed him earlier about Matias’s words in the private room, Wyatt playfully added, “When Amelia and I have our wedding, you’ll definitely get an invitation p>
“For real? You won’t go back on your word?” Matias immediately turned his gaze to Amelia. “Hey, Amelia, if Mr. Stewart forgets, you need to remind him of it, okay p>
Amelia was tempted to smack his head again but stopped herself when she noticed the fresh white bandage covering his eye.
“Matias, you’ve really stepped up for Amelia this time. Thank you,” said Wyatt sincerely.
Receiving a personal thanks from Wyatt, Matias quickly waved off the gratitude. “No need to thank me. I wanted to protect her p>
Wyatt’s lips curled into an amused smile. “I’ll keep what happened today in mind. Consider me owing you one p>
Matias was about to reply when Wyatt smoothly continued, “The company will arrange a bravery reward of one million dollars for you, which I’ll personally provide. Also, your entire treatment cost will be covered by the company p>
A million dollars was nearly triple Matias’s annual salary. As the realization sank in, his injury suddenly didn’t feel very painful anymore.
A million dollars! He could hardly believe his luck!
Just when everyone assumed the conversation was done, Amelia said softly but clearly, “Actually, I have a request.” All attention instantly shifted toward her.
