Chapter 347:

On the evening Amelia and Wyatt returned to the mansion, a shrill phone call jolted them awake in the dead of night.

Wyatt picked up, and Davin’s frantic voice came through, trembling with urgency. “Mr. Stewart, there’s been an accident with your grandfather p>

Wyatt’s face tightened with concern at the news.

After ending the call, he turned to Amelia with a regretful expression. “We have to cut our trip short and return to Kretol immediately,” he said.

“I’ll start packing,” Amelia replied without hesitation.

The quiet room had allowed her to overhear Davin’s words on the phone. Conroy had taken a fall at the Stewart family estate and had been rushed to a medical facility overnight. Though the severity of his condition wasn’t clear, the fact that Davin had called so late hinted at something serious.

In a flurry, Amelia and Wyatt gathered their belongings and boarded a private jet within ten minutes of the call.

By the time they touched down in Kretol, dawn had already broken.

Wyatt suggested Amelia head back to Hillside Villa to rest, but she shook her head. “I’ll accompany you to the hospital,” she said.

Despite her strained relationship with Conroy, Amelia, as Wyatt’s wife, felt it was her duty to stand by him at a time like this and to avoid any criticism directed at Wyatt.

So, she gathered her strength and went to the hospital with him.

When they arrived at Kretol City Hospital, Conroy had already been moved to a private ward.

Instead of going directly in to see him, Wyatt first led Amelia to Marc’s office.

Before Wyatt could speak, Marc laid out the situation. “It seems your grandfather fell backward and struck his head on the floor p>

“How bad is it?” Wyatt asked.

“We won’t know until he regains consciousness. There’s some bleeding in his brain. I’ve given him the latest special medication, but we’ll need a full scan once he wakes. If the clots dissolve, the situation is manageable. If not p>

Marc trailed off, the crease in his brow making the gravity of the situation clear.

Leaving Marc’s office, Wyatt and Amelia made their way to the VIP ward on the hospital’s top floor.

The room was packed with visitors — members of the Stewart family and representatives from allied families.

Upon spotting Wyatt, several people approached to offer brief greetings.

After a few words of acknowledgment, Wyatt’s gaze shifted to Conroy, lying motionless in the hospital bed, his face ghostly pale, likely from significant blood loss. A complicated mix of emotions passed through Wyatt’s eyes as he looked at Conroy.

With the crowd surrounding Conroy’s bed, there was no room for Amelia. She exchanged a glance with Wyatt and quietly stepped into the adjacent waiting area.

Just as she sat down, Della entered, looking exhausted after spending most of the night at the hospital.

Seeing her, Amelia quickly stood and greeted her.

“Is Wyatt here?” Della asked.

Amelia nodded and gestured toward the ward.

Della followed her gesture, spotted Wyatt, and let out a quiet breath of relief.

Noticing that Della didn’t join the others in the ward, Amelia asked in a low voice, “How did Conroy fall so suddenly p>

With the number of staff at the Stewart estate and Doug’s near-constant presence by Conroy’s side, it seemed strange that something like this had happened.

Della hesitated, glancing toward the ward to make sure no one was listening. Lowering her voice, she said, “I’m not sure of the details, but Conroy was only with Jewell when it happened p>

Amelia’s eyes widened at that, but she held back from asking more.

By midday, Conroy still hadn’t woken up.

Wyatt chose to remain at the hospital, and Barrie drove Amelia back to Hillside Villa.

As Amelia entered the main hall, she saw Jewell sitting on the couch.

At the sound of footsteps, Jewell stood abruptly, his eyes searching past her. When he realized Wyatt hadn’t returned, a flicker of disappointment crossed his face. “Wyatt didn’t come back with you?” he asked.

“He’s still at the hospital with Conroy,” Amelia replied.

“When will he be back?” Jewell asked, his tone urgent.

Sensing something off, Amelia said, “Is there something you need to talk to him about? I can call him if it’s important p>

“No, that’s fine. I’ll wait here,” Jewell replied, looking distracted.

Amelia couldn’t shake the feeling that his eyes held a trace of unease, though she wasn’t certain.

It struck her as strange that Jewell wasn’t at Conroy’s bedside, especially after Della’s comment that he had been the only one with Conroy when he fell.

Amelia had planned to head upstairs for a shower and some rest, but with Jewell lingering in the living room, she couldn’t just leave.

Noticing how Jewell kept glancing toward the door, she pulled out her phone and sent Wyatt a message. “Your father’s at Hillside Villa, waiting for you p>
