Had Ricky actually been Amelia’s real father, Wyatt might have hesitated to do anything to him. But knowing Amelia was not related to Ricky by blood now, Wyatt felt no obligation to show Ricky mercy.

As the police car pulled up, terror swept over Ricky. He knew that if they took him in, he’d never get another shot at freedom.

The bodyguards loosened their hold on Ricky as the officers came closer. The instant an officer reached for him, Ricky shoved the bodyguards aside and bolted, launching himself into the sea.

Nobody had expected that. Ricky soon disappeared beneath the choppy waves.

Wyatt quickly revealed Elmore’s identity to Amelia.

That only deepened Amelia’s confusion. She tried to make sense of it all, but nothing about Ricky’s history pointed to any connection with the Figueroas. Throughout all her years living with the Flynn family, she’d never heard of any relationship between the Flynn family and the Figueroa family.

“I’ve already asked Davin to investigate. We’ll uncover everything sooner or later,” Wyatt said.

Before meeting Amelia, Shepard had had no reason to question Brielle’s identity. After all, Weston loved that woman so much; there was no way he would mistake someone else’s child for her daughter. But everything changed after Shepard met Amelia. Doubt crept in about whether Brielle truly was that woman’s daughter.

Shepard wouldn’t have cared about gaining a half-sister if Weston had treated them all fairly, but the blatant favoritism toward Brielle was impossible to ignore. If Brielle ever found herself in serious trouble, Shepard was certain Weston would go to any length to protect her.
