Sanford just shrugged off his words, not wanting to argue with Wyatt on such a joyous day. His culinary skills were among the best in the country, and not everyone could invite him to prepare a meal.

Sanford put his talents to work, filling the table with beautiful dishes from Wyatt’s carefully chosen menu—every one of them a favorite of Amelia’s.

Once the meal was set, Sanford made his exit with a cheerful farewell, wanting to give the couple privacy. Davin trailed after him, and quiet settled back over the cabin, leaving Wyatt and Amelia alone.

“You sit here. I’ll go get something,” Wyatt said, pulling out a chair for Amelia before disappearing into the kitchen. He returned moments later carrying a bottle of wine.

The sight of it sent Amelia’s mind spinning. Why bring out wine now? Was he expecting her to drink with him? Should she? What if she ended up tipsy or worse?

Her thoughts broke when Wyatt set a glass in front of her. The red liquid caught the light, and a gentle aroma rose from the glass, making it hard to resist.

Lifting his glass in invitation, Wyatt waited for her to do the same. Amelia quickly clinked her glass with his, the crisp sound filling the room.

Joy sparkled in Wyatt’s eyes, their depth reflecting how much this moment meant to him. He alone understood how long he had dreamed of this day. Now, at last, she was truly his.
