Chapter 148:
“Would you mind helping me with my tie?” he said to her.
Wyatt’s teasing tone made Amelia’s cheeks warm, but she still reached for the tie. While he lifted his arm, her eyes landed on the silver cufflinks—her gift to him. She noticed he wore those cufflinks nearly every day. The thought crossed her mind to get him a few new pairs. He always went out of his way to look after her. She figured it was only right that she should give him something thoughtful in return.
Amelia understood the steps to tying a tie, though she’d never actually done it for someone else.
Wyatt was standing near the bed, towering over her. She gently tapped his arm, and he immediately bent down slightly to make it easier for her to tie the tie. Her hands fumbled a bit as she worked. She quickly realized that knowing how to do it and actually doing it were completely different things.
After several awkward attempts, she finally managed to finish, but the tie looked a little crumpled from all her fussing. Flushing with embarrassment, she admitted, “I’ve never done this for anyone before. It looks terrible. Maybe one of the servants could do a better job p>

Just as she reached out to call for a servant, Wyatt pulled her into a warm embrace. Hearing her admit that she’d never tied a tie for anyone before made him grin from ear to ear. “Amelia, if you’re not happy with it, you can always try again. I’m more than happy to be your practice partner p>
The sincerity in his teasing words, along with the look he gave her, sent a rush of heat to her cheeks. She slipped from Wyatt’s embrace and hurried into the bathroom.
Later, both of them rode to the Stewart Group in the same car. Barrie, drawing on his experience, pulled the car over at the usual spot before Amelia could even ask. After saying goodbye to Wyatt, she wasted no time and stepped out of the car. Amelia soon strode through the entrance of the Stewart Group with her usual composure.
Matias’ absence meant every bit of his workload landed in her lap, and the morning raced by as she juggled task after task. By the time her phone buzzed, the clock was inching toward noon.
Wyatt had sent her a message with a simple request: “Come to my office.” Amelia figured he had business matters to discuss, so she grabbed her phone and set off toward his office.
Walking inside, she stopped short at the sight of a table overflowing with food. He had already prepared everything, and as soon as he noticed her, he beckoned her over. “Kurt just arranged for these dishes to be sent up. Join me for lunch p>
Since this was his office, her first instinct was to refuse.
Despite running through a list of reasons in her mind, she eventually settled onto the sofa across from him without saying anything. Truth be told, the food was absolutely mouthwatering.
After enjoying the meal, Amelia leaned back on the couch, stretching out with a look of pure contentment.
Wyatt noticed her relaxed mood and let out a gentle laugh. “The lounge is cleaned every day. Would you like to take a nap there p>
He then moved to the side and swung open a concealed door, revealing a spacious bed.
