Chapter 280:
Jasiah’s every word felt like a dagger stabbing into Denny, yet under this relentless provocation, Denny somehow managed to calm down. Jasiah watched as Denny pulled himself together, and though some of the harshness left his voice, the frustration lingered. “Don’t act like I’m the enemy here. Everything I’ve done was for you. If you get on Wyatt’s bad side and the Williamsons work with him to go against you, do you really believe you can handle that p>
“Get Stevie to come to Hans,” Denny replied calmly after Jasiah finished speaking, letting out a steady breath.
The moment Stevie Benson’s name came up, Jasiah’s face shifted from fury to genuine worry. Stevie was the psychologist Denny trusted from abroad. People thought Denny’s move overseas was all part of the Williamson family’s grand plan, but the truth was much messier. They had sent him away, terrified he’d outshine Terrell.
Depression had been Denny’s silent battle for years. People called him a star in the business world, yet only Jasiah saw the price he had paid behind closed doors. Denny didn’t create Summit Capital for glory; he built it to show the Williamsons what he was capable of. He had always hoped that might win their respect, but instead, their first instinct had been to wrest Summit Capital away from him and give it to Terrell.

Thinking of all that, Jasiah felt his anger melt into genuine sympathy. He nodded quietly to Denny’s request, meaning to ask if his depression had flared up again, but just then, footsteps rang out, stopping him. Wyatt stepped into the hallway, Amelia safe in his arms, trailed by the doctor Jasiah had summoned earlier.
After checking Amelia over, the doctor told Wyatt that she had been drugged but would be all right after a few days of rest. Wyatt let out a sigh of relief. The worst of Amelia’s injuries was a fractured wrist. She’d also suffered scrapes and bruises.
“How is Mrs. Stewart doing?” Jasiah asked, breaking the silence when Denny didn’t speak.
Wyatt relayed the doctor’s words. He then listened as Jasiah explained everything that had happened at the Harvest Moon Restaurant. Without Denny being there by chance, nobody could say what might have happened to Amelia. Though Wyatt bristled at Denny’s feelings for her, he could not ignore that Denny had saved her today.
With the room quiet, Wyatt turned to Denny, his tone icy but honest. “You saved Amelia, and I won’t forget this p>
Denny’s expression held a strange mix of emotions when he heard that. Catching the mood, Jasiah stepped forward, flashing a gentle smile at Wyatt.
“Denny and I are both friends with Mrs. Stewart. You don’t need to p>
“Ever wonder why you’ll never beat Terrell?” Before Jasiah could finish, Wyatt cut him off. His words hit Denny like a slap, wounding both his pride and his heart.
Denny retorted, “Why do you have to say something like that, Mr. Stewart? You p>
Wyatt interjected, unwilling to owe him anything. “There’s something odd about Terrell’s identity p>
With that, he walked out of Denny’s place with Amelia in his arms, the distant sound of a helicopter soon fading.
Denny and Jasiah, left alone in the living room, were stunned by the unexpected revelation.
“Maybe Terrell was adopted?” Jasiah asked, thinking of something.
Denny answered with a dry smirk. “Is that even believable to you p>
Recalling how fiercely the Williamsons protected Terrell, Jasiah found himself shaking his head instinctively. Terrell being adopted? That was impossible. If anything, the only person who could be adopted here might just be Denny. Still, Wyatt wasn’t the type to say something like that without proof. There had to be something fishy about Terrell’s identity.
After a short pause, Denny turned to Jasiah and said, “Let’s get back to Hans. Then you need to start digging into this right away p>
“Then what about Mrs. Stewart…” Jasiah began, instantly wishing he could snatch the words back after speaking. He almost wanted to smack himself for bringing Amelia up.
When he saw that Denny’s expression stayed calm, he exhaled in relief. “I’ll get the jet ready right away p>
Once Jasiah stepped away, Denny’s face turned dark. If Wyatt was telling the truth, then he had fully repaid the favor of him saving Amelia.
At Hillside Villa.
Wyatt climbed out of the helicopter, Amelia still cradled in his arms. Marc had been waiting for their arrival for a while. Marc’s findings matched what Jasiah’s doctor had said. After examining Amelia, Marc swiftly mixed up a new medication and told Wyatt she’d wake up within the hour after taking the medicine.
Hearing that, Wyatt wasted no time, feeding Amelia the medicine. Marc, however, didn’t make any move to leave. He lounged on the sofa, prompting Wyatt to shoot him a cold look.
“Why are you still here?” Wyatt asked.
Marc could sense that Wyatt wanted him to leave, but he pretended not to know that and leaned in, lowering his voice. “So tell me, what are you going to do to Jaxton after all this p>
