Chapter 181:
Inside, Wyatt offered a simple greeting: “Grandpa,” and let the word hang. Conroy, who had been calm, felt a flicker of annoyance at Wyatt’s unwillingness to say more.
Amelia, quick to notice the shift in the room, spoke up. “Grandpa, why did you want to talk to the two of us p>
Her gentle question prompted Conroy to retrieve a box and hand it over without a word.
Puzzled, Amelia stared at the box in his hand. Ever since she had left the Stewart Mansion after the last ordeal, Doug had delivered a mountain of supplements from Conroy, likely to make up for what had happened—far more than anything Della had ever sent. The sight of them when she returned from the hospital had genuinely caught her off guard.
Though Wyatt had Kurt put all the supplements away, Conroy’s gesture was clear—he wished to show remorse for her injury. So, she chose to let go of her previous misgivings.

“Don’t just stare at it. Take it p>
Seeing Amelia hesitate to accept the box, Conroy showed a hint of dissatisfaction. Amelia yielded to his insistence and accepted it.
“Open it. See what’s inside,” Conroy said.
Taking her time, she lifted the lid. Nestled in the box was a jade bracelet, its color soft and luminous. The moment she realized what it was, Amelia closed the box.
“I can’t possibly accept something so precious. This should stay with you p>
Conroy dismissed her protest and shot Wyatt a pointed look. “Tell your wife why she must accept it p>
“This bracelet belonged to my grandmother. You’re meant to have it,” Wyatt said to Amelia.
Through Wyatt’s explanation, Amelia realized the bracelet was a treasured Stewart heirloom. Tradition dictated that Wyatt’s grandmother should gift it to her daughter-in-law. However, since Polly Stewart had two sons, it was inappropriate to give it to either daughter-in-law, so she left it with Conroy for safekeeping before she passed away.
Amelia thought of mentioning that she was not the only one who could receive the bracelet, but she held her tongue.
Reading her hesitation, Conroy said, “This is what his grandmother wanted p>
Before she passed, Polly had asked Conroy to give the bracelet to Wyatt’s wife. Handing it to Amelia now meant she was truly being welcomed into the family.
Understanding the significance, Amelia said respectfully to Conroy, “Rest assured, I will take good care of this bracelet p>
Conroy offered a slight nod and then signaled for them to go. His purpose was obvious. By giving Amelia the bracelet, he wanted the entire Stewart family to see that he had accepted her.
When Amelia walked back downstairs, she felt every pair of eyes watching her with a new respect.
Wyatt remained his distant self, hardly speaking to anyone as usual. He gave Della a polite greeting and prepared to leave with Amelia. Amelia, however, paused and offered everyone a warm farewell before they left.
