Chapter 212:
Roughly an hour slipped by before Amelia’s phone buzzed with a call from Denny. She arrived at the restaurant and discovered Rory waiting alone in the private dining room.
The instant she appeared, a sly glimmer lit up Rory’s eyes. “Amelia, looks like you’re about to see your plans fall apart p>
Amelia hadn’t intended to engage with him, but upon hearing this, she couldn’t help but look at him. “Does your grandfather know about the terms you offered Summit Capital p>
Rory’s face, previously full of smugness, suddenly froze, but he still replied, “Grandpa only said whoever secures this project wins. He didn’t mention anything else, so the process isn’t important, only the result p>
Hearing that, Amelia decided Rory was not worth a second more of her time. Still, Rory refused to give up taunting her. He continued, “Even with your grandmother in such critical condition, you’re still sitting here doing business. Your dedication to Wyatt is unmatched p>
The sneer in his voice drew a sharp glare from Amelia. “How did you know that my grandmother is gravely ill?” she asked.
Instant regret flickered across Rory’s features. Somehow, as he faced Amelia’s fierce glare, he felt the same pressure he experienced from Wyatt. Panic flickered in his chest.
“I heard the news from someone,” he replied.
“Who told you that p>
Questions raced through Amelia’s mind. She still couldn’t figure out why Ricky had suddenly shown up at the hospital to see Michelle. Now, every instinct screamed at her that Rory was hiding something.

When Rory realized Amelia actually made him uneasy, his anger bubbled up. It was understandable that he felt nervous around Wyatt, but what made Amelia capable of instilling fear in him?
Before he could lash out, the private room’s door swung open. Denny and Peter entered together.
Both men paused, immediately noticing the tension in the air. Denny looked at Amelia with concern. “Are you alright p>
Amelia drew a breath and steadied herself, giving a slight nod. Right now, the project took top priority. Michelle’s situation—and whether Rory was involved in it—would have to wait until she went back. She would investigate the matter thoroughly. And if Rory had a hand in it, she would make him pay.
Once everyone was seated, Denny steered the conversation to the project. Amelia didn’t feel shocked about the suggestion that she and Rory would lead the project together, since Denny had already brought it to her attention beforehand.
Spotting the calm in Rory’s eyes, Amelia drew her brows together in confusion. Considering all the lengths he had gone to for this, his lack of reaction to having to split the project with her seemed peculiar. She kept her face carefully composed around Denny and Peter, but worry crept in inwardly. That sensation in her gut screamed that something wasn’t right.
The urge to return to Kretol and dig into this matter gripped her. With the meeting wrapped up and loose ends tied, she excused herself without lingering. Denny watched her go, holding back his thoughts. He understood there would be plenty of chances for them to talk when the time was right.
Rory watched Denny gaze at Amelia’s departing figure, lost in thought.
In Kretol.
