Chapter 132:
On the third afternoon, Jordy arrived in Kretol. Before his arrival, he had made sure to reach out to Amelia.
Because his visit centered on business about the resort, Amelia decided she would bring Matias along to pick Jordy up. To her surprise, Jordy turned down the offer, proposing they meet instead at the Harvest Moon Restaurant.
Amelia agreed, not thinking much about it.
Their meeting was set for six. At ten to six, Amelia and Matias arrived at the door of the private dining room. Amelia’s hand lifted to knock, but quarreling voices inside caught her attention and stopped her.
Jordy, standing rigid inside the private room, shot a glare at Elena, who had stubbornly trailed him all the way there. He kept his voice low but fierce. “Go home, Elena. Amelia will be here soon p>
“I’m not budging! I’m staying here to wait for Amelia!” Elena exclaimed.
Frustration simmered in Jordy’s eyes, but considering that she was his cousin, he held back his anger. He tried reason instead. “Wyatt’s married to Amelia now. There’s no point in you confronting her p>
“So what if they’re married? People can get divorced after marriage. Besides, Conroy would never let Amelia become a member of the Stewart family. He’s bound to force Wyatt to leave her p>
The truth was, Elena was right.
Out in the hallway, Amelia hesitated, unsure if she should go inside, while Matias stood frozen in shock beside her. Amelia was married? To Wyatt? Was it the same Wyatt he knew?
Matias barely managed to glance at Amelia for confirmation before the door swung open from within. Suddenly, all four found themselves staring at one another.

When Jordy saw Amelia and Matias in the doorway, his gaze turned apologetic. He was about to say something when Elena spoke with a sneer. “Didn’t your parents teach you any manners? Eavesdropping on people’s conversations is pretty low p>
“I wasn’t eavesdropping. But speaking of manners, is talking behind people’s backs what your parents taught you?” Amelia said.
“You p>
Elena still remembered how harsh Amelia’s words could be, having already been on the receiving end back in Prevda. Without missing a beat, she gave up arguing and quickly changed the topic. “Amelia, tell me: do you actually believe someone with a broken engagement like you deserves to be with Wyatt? Once everyone hears about your marriage to him, what do you think it’ll do to his reputation? Don’t be so selfish. Maybe you’re fine with being talked about, but Wyatt doesn’t deserve to become Kretol’s laughingstock p>
“Cut it out, Elena. I’ve heard enough from you.” Jordy, who had been clutching Elena’s hand, wasted no time trying to pull her away. Still, she resisted, refusing to make it easy for him.
“Oh, please, you’re only running your mouth because Amelia landed Mr. Stewart! Amelia didn’t just leave Kretol University with honors. She’s smart, gorgeous, and talented. There’s nothing about her that isn’t good enough for Mr. Stewart. You might come from a wealthy family, but with that face of yours, I doubt anyone would want you—least of all Mr. Stewart p>
Matias was still wrapping his head around Amelia marrying Wyatt, so he hesitated at first. But as soon as Elena’s words hit Amelia, he found his voice and snapped at her. Many respected figures at Kretol University highly valued Amelia. If they found out he had let her be insulted like this, Matias knew he’d be in trouble when he met them again.
Matias’s blunt retort left everyone momentarily speechless. If anyone was being honest, Elena wasn’t on Amelia’s level, though she had her own kind of beauty.
Being a member of the Green family, Elena wasn’t used to being spoken to like that. Anger flashed in her eyes as she looked at Matias. “Who the hell do you think you are? You don’t even have the right to talk, you useless p>
“Ms. Green, don’t forget. What goes around comes around,” Amelia interjected before Elena could finish, her voice even.
Elena, who had spent years abroad, stared at Amelia, baffled by what she meant.
Matias, standing right behind Amelia, let out a loud laugh. “You look like someone who never cracked a book before p>
Elena’s glare could have cut glass, but Matias wouldn’t let up. He leaned in, still smirking. “Maybe try reading more, since ignorance doesn’t suit you p>
