Chapter 168:
Sweets never really tempted Wyatt, so Amelia kept a slice of the cake for herself and handed the remaining cake to Kurt, trusting him to share it with the servants.
Wyatt glanced at Amelia, curiosity flickering in his eyes. “How is it p>
“Honestly, it’s wonderful. Want a taste?” Amelia replied, her voice cheerful as she sampled a piece, eyes bright while she relished the flavor.
Before Wyatt spoke, Amelia offered him the side she hadn’t touched and placed a clean fork in his hand. Instead of accepting, Wyatt set the plate down on the table beside him without a word.
Without waiting for Amelia to react, he wrapped his arms around her, drawing her into his embrace, his scent drifting between them as he kissed her. The sweetness on her lips pulled him in, impossible to resist. He kissed her deeper, holding her close until her breath came out in a hush, then let her go at last.
Wyatt’s voice held a teasing warmth. “You’re right; the taste is wonderful p>
The meaning beneath his words brought a quick blush to Amelia’s cheeks. After a moment, Wyatt held the cake toward her once more. Amelia gave him a pointed look and said, “I’m not eating another bite. If you want it, it’s all yours p>
Without warning, Wyatt rose to his feet and disappeared upstairs. Amelia stared after him, confusion flickering across her face. Was he upset? But wasn’t she the one supposed to be offended here?
Moments later, Wyatt reappeared, carrying a large gift box.

“Happy birthday, Amelia. I wish you a life full of happiness,” Wyatt said.
Amelia stared in disbelief at the present he offered. “Wait, didn’t you already give me a birthday present? That mountain of flowers you prepared for me was more than enough p>
Wyatt shook his head. “The flowers were a gift for our marriage. This is a birthday present. They aren’t the same p>
Before she tried to protest, Wyatt gently added, “Go ahead and open it p>
Guided by his encouragement, Amelia carefully opened the box and discovered three smaller boxes arranged inside. For a second, she could only blink at the sight.
“There are three gifts in here p>
Wyatt had never missed preparing a birthday gift for her, even when he couldn’t deliver them in person—until now.
Each present was meaningful in its own right. The first, a pigeon-blood ruby about the size of a thumb, he had chosen and shaped himself. The second, a delicate rabbit carved from precious wood, was also the work of his own hands. The last box held a turquoise bracelet, and as soon as she saw it, Amelia realized it was her design from her old university sketches.
After Wyatt handed over the presents, uncertainty crept into his chest. Before he could speak, Amelia wrapped her arms around him. Opening each box felt like discovering a hidden treasure. The sincerity in these gifts spoke louder than words.
Without hesitation, she slid the bracelet onto her wrist and turned toward him with a smile. “How does it look on me p>
The bracelet shimmered against her skin, its color even brighter. Wyatt grinned and replied, “It looks wonderful on you p>
Just then, Kurt strolled over with a lively smile. “Happy birthday, Mrs. Stewart. I wasn’t quite sure what you’d enjoy, so I brought you a small present. It’s just a simple gift, but I hope you like it p>
Although she knew Kurt and Wyatt shared a strong friendship, Amelia felt a flicker of uncertainty as she eyed the package in his hands, not knowing if she should accept it. Her gaze drifted to Wyatt, searching for his opinion. Wyatt offered a reassuring nod, which gave her the confidence to accept the gift. “Thanks a lot, Kurt,” she said.
Having given his gift, Kurt made his exit, leaving the two of them alone for a while. Meanwhile, Amelia’s phone kept buzzing with calls from Della, Carlee, and Monroe to wish her a happy birthday. Even Michelle managed to ring her from the hospital. The absence of any message from the Flynn family did not go unnoticed.
Wyatt’s frustration with the Flynns simmered beneath the surface. He was about to comfort her when a call from Davin came. It was already past eleven at night.
“We found out who’s behind the news, Mr. Stewart. But…” Davin’s hesitation was clear.
“Spit it out. Why are you holding back?” Wyatt’s impatience crept into his voice.
Davin did not delay much longer. “Barnard Lambert, one of the journalists, admitted that Ms. Green was the one who leaked both your marriage and Mrs. Stewart’s health issues p>
“So where is she now?” Wyatt asked. His voice stayed composed, yet Davin, who had worked for him for years, sensed the storm brewing behind Wyatt’s calm front.
Before calling, Davin had discovered that the Green siblings had gone to the airport, planning to fly to Prevda. He had already dispatched some men to watch the terminals, but without Wyatt’s go-ahead, nobody dared stop the Greens.
Wyatt didn’t hesitate once Davin finished. “Head to the airport yourself and bring her back p>
Amelia, watching as Wyatt ended the call, couldn’t hide her surprise. Learning that Elena was at the heart of it all caught her off guard. But when she remembered Elena’s feelings for Wyatt, the puzzle pieces clicked into place.
Wyatt was about to head out when she reached for his arm to stop him. “Can I go with you p>
She thought he might refuse her, but instead, he nodded.
