Chapter 158:
Barrie finally relaxed the moment he recognized the man at the door, stepping aside without a word. Wyatt’s eyes, rimmed with exhaustion, caught Amelia’s attention instantly. His face told the story of a night robbed of sleep.
“Since when did you get the right to boss around my wife?” Wyatt said. With just those quiet words, the air shifted. The bodyguards Doug had brought began to shrink back, keeping their distance from Amelia.
Doug’s face betrayed a flash of panic before he managed a polite smile. “Mr. Stewart, your grandfather only wants a word with Miss Flynn. We weren’t trying to cause trouble p>
“Tell me, Doug, how many years have you worked for the Stewart family?” Wyatt interjected.

“And after four decades, you still don’t know how things work around here? You keep calling her Miss Flynn, even though she’s my wife. Is that your way of showing disapproval p>

Wyatt walked over to Amelia, the coldness still lingering in his gaze, but his tone softened. “Stay here and rest. I’ll handle everything with the family. Once I’m back, I’ll explain everything to you, alright p>
Ignoring him felt impossible for Amelia. She saw the fatigue in his eyes and heard the plea in his voice, and her heart wavered.
Still, she kept her tone guarded. “Mr. Stewart, I already gave you the divorce papers. We don’t p>
“Those papers? I burned them. I’m not divorcing you. Let’s get through all of this first. When it’s done, I’ll explain everything to you. Just trust me on this, okay?” Wyatt reached out and took hold of her hand, his grip unwavering despite her attempts to pull away.
She tried more than once to shake him off, but he refused to let go. His hold only loosened when she gave a reluctant nod, and the warmth returned to his eyes.
