Chapter 247:
“You know, Dad, I’m pretty sure the company rules state that if most of the board agrees to let me join the company, you can’t say no,” Amelia said.
Ricky had assumed Amelia would play the Katrina card to force her way into the Flynn Group, which would have put him in a tough spot. Hearing her cite the company’s regulations instead came as a relief. He even found himself nodding.
Without missing a beat, Amelia turned to the directors around the table. Locking eyes with Bryce, she asked, “What do the rest of you think about me joining the Flynn Group for some hands-on experience p>
Ricky watched with open contempt. The board members were all his people; he believed that without his consent, Amelia would never be able to join.
That certainty crumbled when Granville quietly raised his hand. “Mrs. Stewart has my support to join the company p>
“I agree as well p>
Collin and Bryce spoke up right after, echoing Granville’s support.

Including Dalia, four people now backed Amelia’s entry into the Flynn Group.
Ricky’s mouth fell open. Shock quickly turned to burning anger. Dalia siding with Amelia was no surprise, but he had never anticipated Bryce and the others turning against him—especially Bryce. Thinking of their agreements, Ricky glared at him in warning. “Do you understand the consequences of your actions p>
“I know exactly what I’m doing. I support Mrs. Stewart’s participation in company management.” Taking it a step further, Bryce looked straight at Ricky and added, “You might not know this, Mr. Flynn, but the Stewart Group has already placed all their chip business in Mrs. Stewart’s hands p>
That revelation spurred Ricky to act. He snatched up his phone and called his secretary for confirmation. Once the secretary verified Bryce’s claim, Ricky’s face darkened, his eyes turning cold.
Bryce had brokered many deals with Ricky over the years, but none of those agreements mattered compared to his mother’s well-being.
With only eight people on the board apart from Amelia, the three remaining members kept quiet, exchanging looks as the tension in the room mounted. Stories of the fierce rivalry between Amelia and her father had circulated for ages, yet the board had never imagined Amelia could hold her own like this.
Even so, the three weren’t quick to pick sides. Their silence gave Ricky some relief.
Inside, resentment simmered as Ricky blamed Wyatt for the turn of events, though he dared not show it openly.
Ricky’s voice was flat as he said to Amelia, “Unless you have more than half the board’s approval, you can’t get what you want; the four votes you have don’t change a thing p>
“Dad, you seem to have forgotten that I control sixty percent of the company’s shares. Not only do I hold the shares, but I’m also a board member myself. That gives me a vote, too,” Amelia said calmly.
Ricky’s world spun in a haze of rage as Amelia finished speaking. Words on the tip of his tongue vanished. Without warning, he slumped sideways, passing out. A hush fell over the room. No one had seen that coming, and they watched as Ricky fell to the floor.
The sharp smack of his fall jolted Amelia, but she quickly pulled herself together. With a calm breath, she swung the meeting room door open and told Ricky’s assistant to call an ambulance.
As paramedics loaded Ricky into the ambulance, Dalia watched, feeling oddly pleased. Still, remembering Ricky’s relationship with Amelia, she leaned toward Amelia and said, “You know he’s not going to let this slide p>
“Dalia, don’t forget what I said. I already knew my father would turn on me. But before he does, I have two things left to settle p>
As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, Amelia strode straight into Ricky’s office.
Dalia started to speak, but stopped herself when she saw Amelia pick up a framed photo of Ricky on the desk and toss it into the trash without a second thought.
This left Dalia shocked. Rocco Perry, who worked as Ricky’s secretary, looked equally taken aback. “Mrs. Stewart, what are you doing p>
“Start clearing out this office,” Amelia instructed.
“Clear it out? Why? This is Mr. Flynn’s office, and if—” Rocco started to argue.
This office had once belonged to Katrina. Since coming back to the Flynn Group, Amelia had set her mind on reclaiming everything Katrina had left behind.
“Rocco, do you really think you’d be here if the Flynn Group hadn’t paid for your education?” Amelia interjected.
Rocco’s mouth snapped shut. There was no answer he could give.
He remembered his university days. With his grades, he could have worked somewhere better. But the Flynn Group had covered his tuition, and he’d devoted himself to Ricky, working without error, thinking he was paying back that debt.
As Rocco remained silent, Amelia continued, “You should know, that scholarship of yours came from my mother’s foundation p>
The truth hit Rocco like a slap. After Katrina passed away, Ricky wasted no time shutting the foundation down, calling it a pointless drain on resources.
Amelia’s words left Rocco pale-faced. He had been working diligently for Ricky to repay the kindness he believed he received, only to realize he had been repaying the wrong person all along.
“I’ll get started on clearing the office for you right away, Mrs. Stewart.” Rocco made for the door, but Amelia’s voice rang out, crisp and clear. “Wait a second p>
Seeing Rocco turn around, Amelia tentatively asked, “Would you consider becoming my secretary p>
