Chapter 288:
A heavy silence hung in the air before Laura finally broke it. “Ricky switched out Katrina’s medication, but I was the one who gave him the chance to do it p>
Amelia stared at her. “Why would you do something like that p>
For as long as Amelia could remember, Laura and her mother had always been close friends. Yet now, Laura was admitting that Katrina’s death had something to do with her, and Amelia couldn’t make sense of it.
Amelia’s question seemed to set Laura off. A flash of anger lit Laura’s eyes. Laura’s voice rose at Amelia. “Katrina only has herself to blame! She was married, but she still let Santos obsess over her! I warned her. I told her to stop seeing him, but she ignored me. She p>

“What nonsense are you spouting?” Amelia did not give Laura a chance to finish. Her jaw tightened as she spoke. The idea that Laura harbored such thoughts about Katrina was both infuriating and absurd to her.

“All of this… wasn’t it just because you were envious of my mother?” Amelia said.
“Why would I ever envy her?” Laura snapped back. “What does Katrina have that I don’t p>
Laura’s face twisted in anger as if the question itself wounded her pride. Amelia, undeterred, met her glare head-on. “You know it as well as I do. In talent, in looks, you could never measure up to my mother. You hated her for building the Flynn Group from the ground up, for turning it into something remarkable all by herself… That kind of success will always be out of your reach. You p>
