Chapter 372:
Damon’s warm gaze hardened after a stretch of silence. “Mrs. Stewart, business may resemble a battlefield, but setting such a trap for my cousin feels far too ruthless p>
“And tell me, did I force him to sign the contract? Did I threaten him to hand over the money? He did those things all by himself. Mr. Figueroa, have you ever heard a saying?” Amelia tilted her head slightly.
Though the sudden shift in Amelia’s words puzzled him, Damon asked, “Which saying p>
“It’s not the bad ones who do the most damage. It’s the foolish,” Amelia replied.
Damon was well aware of Huntley’s stupidity, but regardless of what Huntley had done, he was still his cousin. Therefore, after Damon heard the sarcasm in Amelia’s tone, his expression instantly turned cold.
“I came here today hoping to end this on peaceful terms p>
“And what exactly is your idea of peace?” asked Amelia, one brow arching.
“Cancel the project. Return the money you took from the Figueroa Group. Agree to both, and I’ll consider this matter closed p>
A low, amused laugh spilled from Amelia’s lips.
The sound deepened the shadows on Damon’s face.
“Mr. Figueroa, you run a multinational corporation, yet you say things that belong in a fairy tale. Put yourself in my position. If someone kept stealing projects from your company on purpose, what would you do?” Amelia said.

Damon paused for a moment before answering, “I can cover your company’s losses before, but this project p>
“Forget the compensation, Mr. Figueroa. I’ve already recovered what was lost. As for returning the money, that will never happen,” Amelia interjected.
Damon said, “Are you just going to refuse me outright like this? I believe you should at least show me some respect p>
Just then, another voice cut through the air. “Mr. Figueroa, I didn’t know your power had grown to the point where you could order my wife to do things p>
A flicker of surprise crossed Amelia’s eyes when she spotted Wyatt approaching with steady composure. “What brings you here p>
“It happened that I’m near the Davis Group, and I thought I’d check in on you p>
“Rocco said you were here, so I came over,” Wyatt replied.
After he answered Amelia, his attention shifted toward Damon.
Damon had long been aware of the fact that Amelia was Wyatt’s wife. He had chosen to confront Amelia rather than Wyatt, assuming her regard for the Figueroa Group’s sway would lead to a concession. But Amelia’s unyielding stance caught him off guard, yet considering the Stewart Group’s weight in Kretol, Damon could see why.
Wyatt’s presence caused Damon’s tone to lose its earlier edge. “Mr. Stewart, perhaps you could convince your wife to p>
“My wife didn’t do anything wrong, so I have no reason to convince her to do anything. Mr. Figueroa, instead of pressing her, perhaps you should keep your own family members in check. My wife told me not to step in, and because of that, your company lost only forty million. If I had acted, do you really believe you would lose only that p>
Without waiting for a response, Wyatt took Amelia’s hand and walked away, leaving Damon rooted in place, his face dark with frustration.
Wyatt ushered Amelia into the car, and as it headed toward the outskirts, she curiously glanced at him and asked, “Where are you taking me p>
“You’ll know soon enough p>
Two hours later, the vehicle slowed to a stop, the window revealing a picturesque old town framed by weathered yet elegant architecture. Though she had lived in Kretol for years, Amelia had never realized such a place existed beyond the city’s limits.
“Come on, let’s take a look,” said Wyatt.
When he reached out his hand, Amelia accepted it, and Barrie followed behind with several bodyguards, keeping a respectful distance.
The town’s buildings still carried the imprint of history, but neglect had left them worn and quiet, steeped in a lingering air of abandonment.
“Do you see any potential for turning this place into a tourist spot?” Wyatt asked.
Amelia had already begun to guess Wyatt’s intentions, and his question confirmed it. A soft laugh escaped her. “Mr. Stewart, I’m no longer your secretary. If you want my professional opinion, it’ll cost you a consultation fee,” she teased.
“And if I let the Davis Group take charge of its redevelopment, will I still have to pay?” Wyatt said.
“Are you serious about that p>
Before Wyatt could respond, Amelia voiced her hesitation. “The Davis Group specializes in electronics. We’ve never touched tourism before p>
“Mrs. Stewart, the only way to know if something works is to try,” Wyatt said, his tone full of certainty. “And I know you can handle it p>
Wyatt had already seen her recent online searches, which told him exactly how interested Amelia was in the idea. While the concept didn’t appeal to him personally, he knew this was the perfect opportunity for Amelia to gain valuable experience.
