“Oh-ho, feisty. I like a little fire in women!” One of them sneered, reaching out to grab her shoulder.
Before his hand even grazed her, Yelena moved. Her hand shot out, lightning-quick, and latched onto his wrist. With a sharp twist, a sickening crack echoed in the night, followed by a blood-curdling scream.
The man howled in agony, doubling over and clutching his mangled wrist. “It hurts! It hurts like hell!” he screeched, nearly collapsing from the pain.
The others froze, their confidence faltering as they instinctively took a step back. The girl before them wasn’t as easy a target as they’d assumed. But then, there were several of them and only one of her. Surely, they thought, their numbers would give them the upper hand.
“You stupid bitch!! Think you’re tough, huh? Let’s grab her and teach her a lesson!” the apparent leader snarled, his expression twisting with rage.
Yelena’s lips curved into a humorless smile, her sharp gaze sweeping over the group. Idiots! If they wanted to volunteer as punching bags, she wasn’t about to refuse.
She rolled her shoulders as if preparing for a workout—a little exercise was just what she needed to vent the frustration simmering inside her.
The group lunged at Yelena, their movements uncoordinated but aggressive. She remained calm, her icy gaze fixed on them, completely unfazed. With a swift motion, she swept her leg out, knocking two of them off their feet and sending them sprawling onto the pavement.
One of them scrambled to get back up, moving faster than the others. But Yelena anticipated his move.
She caught his arm and, with a fluid over-the-shoulder throw, slammed him hard onto the ground. The remaining men were stunned, their groans and yells soon filling the cold night air. They lay scattered around her, utterly defeated.
Yelena’s gaze swept over them, her voice sharp and cutting. “If you see me again, stay far away. Otherwise, you’ll regret it.” She slid her hands into her pockets, her demeanor calm yet undeniably commanding. Without sparing them another glance, she walked away, her silhouette radiating an intimidating coolness that left the group paralyzed with fear.
As she disappeared down the street, Austin and his entourage emerged from the club, their attention immediately drawn to the aftermath of the scuffle.
“Hey, Austin, isn’t that the girl from the auction?” John asked, surprise lacing his tone as he motioned toward Yelena’s retreating figure.
Austin’s eyes followed, his expression shifting as realization struck. It was her—the one who had saved his life.
He wanted to go after her, but just as quickly as she’d appeared, she vanished, melting into the shadows of the night as if she’d never been there.
