Bella, still disoriented, stumbled over something and landed face-first onto the bed.
Before she could gather her wits, a weight pressed down on her, pinning her in place.
Something felt off—dangerously so—but her muddled mind struggled to make sense of it, as if she were grasping at smoke. Outside, a commotion stirred, voices rising over the tension.
“Bernice, what’s going on? Did you drag us over here for a reason?” Katelyn asked, her tone sharp with curiosity. Bernice had rushed them over in a flurry, leaving everyone completely in the dark about what was going on.
“Mom, when we were soaking in the hot spring, Yelena said she wasn’t feeling well and left early. I’m worried something might’ve happened to her,” Bernice said, her face clouded with worry.
Donna tensed up, her eyes widened slightly, before asking, “You mentioned Yelena wasn’t feeling well p>
Anything involving Yelena always seemed to put Donna on edge, her worry bubbling to the surface almost instantly.
“Yes, she left not long after,” Bernice replied, her tone innocent but uncertain. “I’m not sure what happened p>
Suddenly, the muffled sounds of a man and woman talking drifted out from Bella’s room, breaking the tense silence. Everyone exchanged bewildered glances, their confusion written plainly across their faces.
This room was meant to be shared by Bella and Bernice—so why on earth was there a man’s voice coming from inside? Surely, they must have misheard.
Yet, the sound only grew louder, leaving no room for doubt. Bernice froze, her mind racing. She muttered to herself, “I thought only Yelena came back… Could it be her in p>
There? Just then, Yelena appeared from a distance, her voice steady as she calmly asked, “What’s going on? Why is everyone gathered here p>
Her tone was calm, her expression candid and unruffled, betraying no hint of anything unusual.
Bernice, however, was so stunned to see Yelena standing before her that her jaw nearly hit the floor. “Why… why are you here?” she stammered.

“But—” Bernice’s panic was palpable, like a cat on a hot tin roof. If Yelena was standing right before her, then who was in the room?
Could it be Bella?
“What’s all that noise coming from inside?” Katelyn asked, her tone measured. With the discernment of an adult, she instantly grasped the implications of the muffled sounds.
Yet, in her eyes, Yelena and Bernice were still too young to fully comprehend such matters, so she chose her words with careful tact. The situation made no sense. How could this even be happening?
