Bella’s face tightened. She pursed her lips and remained silent.
She understood the subtle accusation in Yelena’s words. Yelena seemed upset, perhaps blaming Bella for not seeking her help earlier.
Bella hadn’t expected Yelena to be so petty.

Bella quickly realized that Austin wasn’t going to assist her, so she shifted her focus to Yelena. If she didn’t, she feared she would truly be abandoned.
While Bella had been blindfolded and unable to see, she hadn’t felt much fear. But now, with the blindfold removed, the rundown, shadowy surroundings gave her the impression that something monstrous could emerge at any moment, filling her with terror.
It was only then that Yelena slowly approached and untied the ropes binding Bella.
Bella thanked Yelena, though inwardly, she despised her with all her heart.
