Why was Yelena staring at it? It was just the watch she’d given to Katelyn before. Being Katelyn’s daughter, why couldn’t Bernice wear it? Even though Bernice’s thoughts simmered with frustration, she didn’t dare let any of it show in front of Yelena.
Bernice had a question she wanted to ask Yelena, but Yelena’s unwavering focus on the watch left her uncertain about her thoughts. In the end, Bernice chose to keep her words to herself.
The abandoned school was enormous. As Bernice led Yelena through its eerie halls, she explained that the building was part of the escape room game, designed with obstacles meant to provide a sense of adventure. Initially, Bernice had found them thrilling and entertaining.
However, as time went on, Bernice began to sense that something was wrong. She noticed, with growing unease, that the people around her were gradually vanishing.
By the time she fully realized what was happening, a shadowy figure suddenly lunged at her.
Immediately after that, Bernice was enveloped by a rush of smoke. A wave of dizziness and discomfort washed over her, accompanied by an overwhelming urge to succumb to sleep.
Just as Bernice was on the verge of collapsing, a sharp pain in her wrist—like the sting of a prick—jolted her back to full consciousness.

“You don’t need to know,” Yelena replied dismissively.
Bernice pouted, her frustration evident. Yelena could be so infuriating, always withholding information and leaving things hanging unsaid. Yelena ignored her annoyance and changed the subject.

A surge of anger built up inside Bernice. How could Bella do this to her? Bella’s behavior seemed outrageous to Bernice. Even if it hadn’t been her calling for help, Bella should have at least come to check on them, especially when the distance between them was so small.
