Jarvis was pleased, interpreting her initial nervousness about getting caught by their family. Now that they were alone, he felt she could relax more.
Meanwhile, Yelena was enjoying her day. While heading home, she stopped by a bakery and snapped a photo of the pastries, intending to ask Donna if she wanted any. However, she accidentally sent the picture to Maggie instead.
Before Yelena could correct the mistake, Maggie replied enthusiastically, “Are you really buying this for me? I’ll take matcha and red bean ones then p>
Yelena, seeing Maggie’s quick response, decided to buy pastries for both women. It wasn’t like it would cost her a fortune anyway. At the cashier counter, she learned of a promotion that included complimentary teabags, neatly packaged in an exquisite little box.
She placed the box in one of the bags without much thought. Then, realizing it might seem unfair for only one of them to receive a drink, she paid for another box, ensuring both Donna and Maggie would enjoy their treats.
When Yelena reached home, she handed the pastries to Donna and mentioned she would take the other set next door to Maggie.
Katelyn watched Yelena’s departing figure thoughtfully. Just then, the sound of footsteps echoed from the stairs.

Donna quickly interjected, “No, not at all! Yelena just went to the next-door neighbor p>
Bernice turned to Katelyn and said, “Mom, you’re making up stories again p>
Katelyn glanced at Bernice, her expression one of feigned innocence, and replied, “I was only kidding. Who knew you’d take it so seriously p>
Bernice stomped her foot in frustration. “Mom, you always tease me too much p>
Just then, Bernice heard Amilia’s voice outside, sounding like she was playing with Aus. Bernice hurried out, teasing, “Oh, poor thing. With no cat of your own, you had to come over to play with ours p>
“It’s not your place! This is my Uncle Callum’s house. And Aus likes me,” Amilia answered.
Bernice looked over at Aus, who was standing off to the side, distant, and couldn’t help but chuckle.
