Initially, Maggie had been too excited to notice the subtle shift in Yelena’s expression. But once Yelena had left, she began to replay the scene in her mind. She soon realized there might have been a misunderstanding after all. Yelena was a straightforward person. If she had really bought perfume, she would have given it to Maggie immediately.
Since Maggie had brought it up earlier, Yelena might have felt a bit awkward and decided to go home to fetch the perfume. Whether the perfume was from Fragrance Haven or not—or even if it wasn’t perfume at all—Maggie wouldn’t mind. She appreciated Yelena’s thoughtful intentions.
“Mrs. Barton, open it and take a look,” Monica said deliberately.
Maggie shot Monica a curious glance, wondering why she was so eager to see what was inside. Hadn’t Monica always looked down on Yelena? It was also Monica who had first mentioned seeing Yelena at Fragrance Haven buying a perfume for her, which had caused Maggie to misread the situation from the very beginning.

Yelena shrugged nonchalantly. “I didn’t mean anything by it. You’re just being sensitive. That’s not my problem.” She paused for a moment, then added, “By the way, if I remember correctly, you also got a perfume from Fragrance Haven. Didn’t you gift it to Mrs. Barton p>
“What? Didn’t Monica wait in line but still end up unable to buy one?” Maggie inquired.
Yelena replied, “She did go, but she didn’t actually wait in line. She went straight to the manager and asked for a bottle. The manager was confused and, understandably, didn’t give it to her p>
Later, John did give Monica the perfume as he promised, which was urgently sent over from headquarters.
John, assuming that all women loved perfume, had sent Yelena a bottle too. The perfume Yelena now gave to Maggie was the one John had sent her. She genuinely loved perfumes and had even considered entering the fragrance business at one point.
However, there were still very few truly skilled perfumers in the county, and creating high-end fragrances was no simple task. So, Yelena kept the perfume John sent as a collectible, occasionally taking it out just to enjoy the scent.
