“Yelena, let’s head over to Moda Style and pick out some outfits. I want to dazzle everyone at the annual gala p>
Yelena’s eyebrows shot up. It was obvious what Bernice was truly aiming for; how could she not see her excitement?
“Okay,” Yelena responded simply.
Katelyn and Callum shared a knowing smile. The depth of Yelena and Bernice’s friendship no longer surprised them; they just hoped it was genuine and enduring.
“If something catches your eye, don’t hesitate!” Callum encouraged. A sparkle of excitement danced in Bernice’s eyes as she replied, “Okay, okay, that sounds perfect p>
“Meow.” Like a dignified little prince, Aus strolled toward Yelena with elegant, deliberate steps. He leaped into her arms, curled up, and gazed up at her, seeming to invite her attention.
Yelena understood immediately and began to gently rub Aus’ belly. A cat usually only showed its belly to those it trusted profoundly. Now, as Yelena caressed him, Aus started to purr contentedly.

“Aus, come here,” Bernice called, approaching to lift him. Suddenly, Aus’ eyes snapped open, and he hissed at her, startling Bernice.
Worried that Bernice might take offense, Donna quickly interjected, “Aus is just like that; he can be standoffish. He loves cuddles when he’s in the mood, but if not, Yelena is the only one he’ll let near him. He hissed at me earlier today too p>
Yelena stroked Aus’ head and murmured, “What’s the matter with you, buddy? Why are you so grumpy p>
Though Aus seemed to understand, he chose not to respond. Instead, he snuggled deeper into Yelena’s arms, craving more affection. Aus naturally shied away from discussing such an embarrassing topic. Moreover, even if he had wanted to, he couldn’t. He was just a cat, after all!
Meanwhile, over at Maggie’s, she was trying to persuade Lena to eat. Despite having skipped meals all day, Lena was still a whirlwind of energy, darting about. That morning, she had dashed into Monica’s room as soon as the door opened, startling Monica so much that she tumbled out of bed.
Monica was merely startled, fortunately unharmed; otherwise, the situation could have been much more complicated. “Lena, are you feeling off?” Maggie asked quietly.
“Something does seem off with her,” Monica added.
Monica secretly hoped something was terribly wrong with Lena, so Austin might get rid of her, or she might even die on the street. Suddenly, Lena turned towards Monica, arched her back, and hissed, looking ready to attack at any moment.
