Was there some sort of misunderstanding?
Sebastian clenched his jaw. The Harris family wasn’t from some remote, backward place as they seemed to believe. The Harrises were Eighfast. And of course, Yelena would stay in Eighfast—this was her rightful place, not theirs to dictate.
Sebastian opened his mouth, ready to correct their presumptions, but the Roberts didn’t wait. Tatiana, her nose still wrinkled, turned on her heel and strode inside. Jonathan followed, slamming the door shut without a second glance.
Though the conversation had ended, Sebastian’s mind churned with thoughts. The Roberts’ attitude had spoken volumes, and he could only imagine the kind of life Yelena had endured with them.
It wasn’t difficult to piece together—it certainly hadn’t been a good one.
As his gaze drifted back to the items in the trunk, a pang of melancholy settled over him.
Each piece had been meticulously prepared by Callum, chosen with care and intention. There were luxury watches—Patek Philippe, Rolex, Armani—gleaming under the dim light. Keys to high-end cars—Ferraris, Rolls-Royce Phantoms, Porsches—lay neatly alongside property documents. A bag full of property deeds detailed ten prime real estate locations and twenty shops in Eighfast’s most prestigious districts.
Yet, the Roberts hadn’t even spared a glance at them.
Sebastian was puzzled. From what he knew, Roberts Group was struggling financially. How could they turn their noses up at these gifts, items that could have lifted them out of their troubles?
Their bravado didn’t match their reality.
However, since he was bound by duty, Sebastian quietly packed everything back into the trunk.
There was nothing more he could do than go back and report to Callum.

When Sebastian relayed the events to Callum, the room was heavy with silence. “Let it be,” he said finally.
And just like that, the idea of forging any ties with the Roberts was abandoned.
As for the Roberts, they remained blissfully unaware of what they had rejected.
Meanwhile, at the Barton villa.
The days had blurred together since Austin’s last treatment. Half a month had passed, and this time, the procedure was set within the safe confines of the villa.
The hospital, with its prying eyes, was no longer an option—his last visit had made that abundantly clear.
Austin could still recall his last conversation with his uncle, Leonel. It had been laced with tension, Leonel’s every word sharp and deliberate, carrying undertones.
Especially when he mentioned “the miracle-working doctor,” his tone carrying sharp undertones that made Austin’s jaw tighten. There was no doubt that his uncle had been watching him, studying him, and his condition was no longer a secret.
That realization had forced a change in plans.
The treatment this time was then moved to the Barton family mansion.
The estate was equipped with the necessary medical tools, where Jarrod used to treat him at home when Austin couldn’t be bothered going to the hospital. Within its walls, Austin felt a semblance of safety.
More importantly, it was a safeguard for Yelena. He couldn’t risk exposing her. If Leonel discovered her identity, it would bring nothing but danger.
Leonel wasn’t the type to overlook details, and Austin could feel his uncle’s eyes on him, like a hawk circling its prey.
