“What? You don’t have to do that for me,” Nicole refused.
“No, wait for me,” Yelena responded.
As Yelena donned the delivery uniform jacket and drove off in Nicole’s scooter, Nicole felt a warmth spread through her. She reflected on how Yelena remained unchanged—outwardly stern but inherently kind, truly a dependable friend.
Nicole had worried about being late and the likelihood of receiving poor reviews, even if Yelena managed the deliveries.
To her surprise, when Yelena returned, she brought back excellent news—all customers had left positive feedback.
Nicole was amazed. Even she couldn’t ensure all positive reviews. How had Yelena pulled it off?

Nicole didn’t pry further. She had always seen Yelena as clever; it was typical for her to find ingenious solutions.
“Let’s go. I’m off work. I’ll take you to dinner,” Nicole said.
“Where to?” Yelena inquired.
“To the class reunion party, of course. I’ve already signed us up in the group chat, and everyone’s excited to see you,” Nicole replied.
Yelena paused, taken aback.
She almost refused immediately, but noticing Nicole’s bandaged foot, she hesitated.
“Oh, you don’t have to feel pressured. If you don’t want to go, just say no. I just thought it’d be nice since everyone’s eager to see you after all these years,” Nicole said thoughtfully.
“Not necessarily,” Yelena replied ambiguously.
“Actually, one of our classmates back then, Steven Hopkins, is hosting. He seems to have come into some money, and he’s been flaunting it. Plus, I heard he has a pretty girlfriend. It’s all on him, so why not enjoy a free meal?” Nicole added.

Seeing Nicole about to mount the scooter, Yelena swiftly took it from her and climbed on, kickstarting the engine.
She followed the GPS to the city center and pulled up at the restaurant Steven had booked.

As John and Austin strolled nearby, John spotted a familiar silhouette out of the corner of his eye.
He nudged Austin excitedly. Austin gave him a sharp look, his eyes almost piercing.

Austin paused, then frowned. “Impossible. Yelena is in Eighfast p>
“Why not? I saw her with my own eyes!” John persisted.
“You’re seeing things. Maybe you need a good eye doctor,” Austin said.
John was at a loss for words.
“Hey, I really did see Yelena!” John exclaimed, his voice tinged with frustration as he looked at Austin. He couldn’t help but think that if he had been quicker, a photo would have proven his point, and Austin wouldn’t be doubting him now. “Why don’t you message her to find out where she is if you think I’m lying?” John suggested.
