It seemed Bella had really gone out of her way to avoid being careful if that was how tightly she gripped.
But Yelena didn’t feel the need to dig deeper. Her goal—exposing Bella’s true nature for all to witness—had already been achieved.
The situation was soon brushed aside.
Despite the earlier tension, the party’s atmosphere soon lightened, and laughter returned.
Callum had spared no expense, hiring a renowned chef to cater the event, and the guests enjoyed a lavish meal.
Everyone could see how much the Harris family cherished their newly-discovered daughter.
For the rest of the evening, Bella kept a low profile, refraining from making any more bold moves.
She had been so sure of her plan, but Yelena had somehow turned the tables on her. Bella still couldn’t quite wrap her head around it. How could a faulty security camera expose the whole situation? It baffled her—whatever trick Yelena had pulled, it was far from ordinary. Bella made a mental note to be much more cautious from here on out.
In Yelena’s university class, the atmosphere was tense that morning. There was an important test today, and as usual, everyone had arrived early. Even though they were in college, no one dared slack off, especially for the more challenging courses. Bella was chatting with Madonna as they waited.
“Bella, how did your studies go? Not that you need to worry. You always ace these things,” Madonna said, her voice full of admiration.

Madonna wasn’t at the very top of the class, but she usually placed in the upper half. Bella, however, was confident she would land at the top again, just like she always did. Bella had left no stone unturned in her preparation this time. She was determined to outshine Yelena, especially since they were in the same class now. After all, comparisons could sting—and Bella was determined to show the Harris family who the real star was.
“Indeed, no matter how bad my results are, I’m not going to end up at the bottom. Not with someone like Yelena around. I heard she dropped out of high school. She’s definitely going to screw it up,” Madonna sneered.
Bella gave a knowing smile. “Who knows? But I’m a little worried about her, considering she hasn’t studied at all p>
Her words sounded caring, but there was a definite gleam of satisfaction hiding beneath them.
Madonna nodded, her expression turning cruel. “Don’t worry. Yelena will definitely be kicked out of this class after today p>
As more students filed into the classroom, the tension grew. Their professor had stressed how important this test was, so most of the students were nervously going over their notes.
Then Yelena walked in with her backpack.
The room fell silent for a moment as everyone turned to glance at her, and whispers began to circulate. Many of them were convinced that after this test, Yelena would be out of the honors class for good. They were eager to watch her fail.
Madonna could barely hide her disdain for Yelena’s carefree attitude. From what Bella had told her, Yelena had been nothing but trouble for her. Today, Madonna was ready to defend her friend.
