Domenic was outside when a sudden, intense itch in his nose made him sneeze uncontrollably, making him wonder if Austin was blaming him.
Unbeknownst to Austin, Domenic had made the reservation on Maggie’s instructions, after she heard he needed one. He was unaware of any further arrangements Maggie might have made.
As Yelena settled in, Austin signaled for the waiter to start serving. They were having French cuisine, to be enjoyed slowly, just as Austin liked.
Yet, Austin soon regretted this decision.
As the appetizers arrived, the lights dimmed slightly and someone approached the piano.
Yelena’s lips quirked as she asked, “Is someone about to play the piano for us p>
This enhanced the atmosphere, giving it a distinctively romantic feel. Austin, unaware of this setup by Maggie, said, “Why don’t we just ask the pianist to leave p>
Yelena shook her head. “No need. It wouldn’t be right to send her away now p>
She knew the pianist relied on these performances for income, beyond a modest base salary.
“Alright then,” Austin said.
The pianist began with a lovely piece. The captivating melody created an immersive ambiance.
Had Yelena and Austin been a couple, they might have found it romantic. But they weren’t, which made the situation rather awkward for both of them.

Yelena and Austin resumed their meal. Once the music ceased, Yelena felt a sense of relief wash over her.

She texted: “I apologize. My performance today fell short of your expectations p>
Yelena replied, “You might have just been startled by my presence, which threw you off a bit. But it’s okay. You did quite well p>
After putting down her phone, Yelena reassured Austin. “It’s all fine. The food here is excellent, and the music was lovely p>
Relieved to hear Yelena was somewhat satisfied, Austin finally relaxed. They continued their meal in comfortable silence.
Austin hoped the series of mishaps was behind him and looked forward to a peaceful dinner.
Suddenly, the dark sky lit up with fireworks, each bursting into romantic pink hearts.
