She couldn’t imagine ever taking Yelena’s words at face value!
Yelena smiled wryly. “I was joking. But you know, some three-year-olds do little jobs like modeling or acting in commercials. You’re already five and you’re mainly playing with a cat p>
Amilia rolled her eyes and shot back, “And you? Aren’t you in your twenties or thirties, also playing with a cat? Who are you to talk p>
Yelena’s smile widened. She hadn’t anticipated Amilia’s quick retort.
“But I earn money doing what I do p>

Stumped, Amilia found herself without a comeback.
Frustrated, she turned and stomped off toward the house next door, muttering, “You’re so annoying p>
Callum and Cayson had a meeting at the company, so they didn’t make it home for dinner. Yelena and Donna, well accustomed to such evenings, barely batted an eye.
The two women then went to Elianna’s place together.
Dina’s eyes darted behind them as they arrived. “Huh? Donna, isn’t Callum back yet p>

Donna shook her head. “Callum has a meeting today. He doesn’t have time to come home for dinner p>
Dina raised a brow. “Donna, Callum works so hard. Don’t you think you should show him a bit more concern p>
Donna tilted her head thoughtfully. “And what do you suggest? Give him a call p>
Dina waved off the idea, her tone faintly disapproving. “Just calling him feels so impersonal. Why don’t we deliver some food to Callum and Cayson at work p>
Donna chuckled, her voice carrying a note of finality. “Forget it. Callum wouldn’t appreciate that p>
“Why wouldn’t he?” Dina asked, her voice tinged with disbelief. “Don’t most men enjoy it when their wives go out of their way to make them look good in front of others p>
Donna smiled gently. “Callum’s not like that. He always says he’s happy to work hard and make money so we can enjoy life. He doesn’t see the point in gestures that, to him, are just for show p>
Dina’s expression darkened slightly. What she had meant as a kind suggestion now sounded, in Donna’s words, like an empty, unnecessary act just for show.
Realizing Dina’s mood shift, Donna quickly added, “Oh, I didn’t mean to offend you! I know your intentions were good. But, you know, everyone has their own way of showing care p>
Dina forced a smile, though her eyes betrayed a flicker of resentment. “It’s okay. I know you didn’t mean it p>
But inside, Dina’s thoughts churned. Did Donna say that intentionally? Was she subtly showing off, rubbing in the fact that Callum didn’t need her kind of effort?
Dina resolved silently that she wouldn’t let Donna see her as weak or inferior.
Meanwhile, in another corner of the Harris household, Bernice was pleading with Bella. “Bella, I want to go too! Please take me with you!” she begged, her tone bordering on desperation.
