His voice came through the phone, saying, “Come out to the hallway. Walk straight to the end on the left.” Yelena had no idea what Cayson wanted, but she decided to walk out and head to the end of the hallway as he had asked.
To make talking to him on the call easier, she put on her Bluetooth earbuds.
She casually scrolled through her phone as she walked, soon arriving at the spot Cayson had mentioned.
Cayson noticed her approaching, but since she was so engrossed in her phone, she didn’t seem to see anything. He had to say to her, “Look up p>
Yelena found it strange but looked up anyway. As soon as she did, she saw Cayson waving at her from afar.
The distance was too great to make out Cayson’s expression clearly, but his body language showed that he was quite happy.
“How’s everything going down there, Yelena p>
Yelena’s mouth twitched. If someone who didn’t know the truth had overheard him, they’d probably have thought she was in hell.
She replied, “I’m fine. How about you up there in heaven p>
Cayson couldn’t help but notice the awkwardness of their conversation. They truly were like-minded.
“I’m doing well too,” Cayson replied with a smile.
Just then, Tessa walked by and overheard Yelena speaking. She glanced outside but saw nothing unusual. However, she swore she did hear Yelena murmur something about heaven.
Tessa gazed at Yelena, her expression softening with sympathy.

Having prepared everything in advance, Yelena remained completely calm.

Tessa shook her head quickly, a flicker of discomfort crossing her face. She knew better than to bring up the loss—it would be like dredging up old wounds for Yelena. It would be too much.
