Chapter 67

Kaia’s POV

Dinner was over and Kieran was nowhere to be found. He’d blocked me out and I couldn’t stop pacing around in the room.

“This is why you shouldn’t block people out, it drives the other party crazy.” I thought and Lylah snickered.

At any tiny sound, my head jerks to the door hoping he would enter but there was no such luck. I felt my chest tightened at the thought of something happening to him. Did he run into the shooter again?

“Why didn’t you tell me if I was going far?” I queried Lylah.

She snorted loudly, “You call that far? You went overboard, defying him in front of his members and then you took your step brother’s side…do you want more p>

“Then why didn’t you stop me p>

“Would you have stopped if I asked you to p>

I kept quiet, she had a point. I had been so concerned about how Dylan was to care about anything else and now, calming down to play everything all over again,

I knew that I really have overdone it this time.

“Can you reach King?” I asked her.

“He’s probably distracted, and he doesn’t know I’m back, so p>

I groaned again, throwing myself on the couch. A small panic was building in my chest. Kieran had never gotten angry at me before, so I was lost on what to do.

I must’ve slept off waiting for Kieran, only opening my eyes due to the rays of light reflecting on my face. Pain shot through my body as I tried sitting upright.

My head darted to the door and then the bed which was untouched.

Kieran didn’t come back to the room last night.

“Lylah I called, a tone of urgency in my voice. I quickly got on my feet ignoring the pain. “Is our okay p>

“I don’t feel anything out of the norm, so he’s probably still just mad at you p>

For some reason, she was acting nonchalant about Kieran not being here like it wasn’t a big deal. But I didn’t have time to talk about that. I took a shower in record time and made my way to his office.

The moment I entered the office, my eyes landed on his empty desk and a stiff air. Ryder and Caleb stopped what they were doing to look at me, both of them wearing different expressions…but the look of pity was similar.

“Where’s he?” My voice was barely audible, a pang of guilt piercing my thoughts.

“He uhmm…has a meeting.” Ryder replied, avoiding meeting my gaze. It was obvious that he was lying.

Caleb didn’t bother and I could swear that he was glaring at me and I deserved it. He was present during the episodes the previous day.

“Please,” I begged, “I just want to see him p>

“Sorry Luna. He left without saying a word.” Ryder replied.

I nodded, swallowing hardly. This was probably how he felt anytime I decided not

to talk to him because of one thing or the other that wasn’t his fault.

It felt like a part of me was missing alongside him but if he didn’t want to be found, I knew there was nothing I could do. But that doesn’t stop my heart from aching. Dragging my feet away from the office, I went to the room. No doubt I wouldn’t be able to pay attention to the girls even though I know they might be able to help. “Lylah, what do I do p>

“Nothing, wait for him to come back.” She replied, “then apologize. He can’t stay mad at you p>

I didn’t want him to be mad at all.

I was too engrossed to notice Dani coming in front of me until she touched me, snapping me out of my thoughts.

“Are you okay? I heard what happened.” She asked, worry etched on her face.

I shook my head, “Kieran hates me.” I murmured, fighting back tears that were threatening to spill.

Her arms came around me in a comforting manner. “Of course not! Alpha Kieran would never hate you. Hurt, yes but that’s the last thing you should be worried about p>

Her words did nothing to calm me down. “He didn’t even come back last night and he blocked me p>

She assured me that it definitely wasn’t what I was thinking and I thanked her before going back to the room. But without him, the room felt empty. It was different from the times I slept by myself.

Just as I sat on the couch, I heard a small knock on the door and I jumped to my feet, running to the door. Instead of Kieran…even though I would’ve smelled him, Maria stood there, holding a tray of food.

“Your breakfast, Luna.” She said, after I murmured a response to her greeting.

If I eat anything right now, I was sure to throw up and to avoid wasting it, I asked her to take it back. She looked like she wanted to say something, but she changed her mind when she saw the look on my face.

Once she was gone, I climbed the bed instead, pulling the duvet over my head.

“Kieran I tried again but there was no response. “I’m sorry, I should’ve listened to you.” I continued, even though I knew he couldn’t hear me.

“I’m sorry…I miss you, come back p>

I heard Lylah say something about calming down but I paid no attention to her and continued until I found myself dozing off again.

The next time I opened my eyes, the familiar smell of home engulfed me. Warm arms wrapped around me, providing the comfort I very much needed. I turned to face him, making sure his hands remained on me.

A deep breath escaped my lips, as I inhaled his scent like I had been starved of it…I have. His eyes were shut, his breathing slow and dark circles around his eyes like he hadn’t slept for a while another wave of guilt hit me.

“Did he run all through the night p>

My hand gently caressed his face, careful not to wake him but his eyes fluttered open almost immediately, causing my hand to freeze.

“I’m sorry,” I started, whispering. “I should’ve listened to you.” My voice breaking, and his arms around me tightened.

“I shouldn’t have left you, I’m sorry.” He whispered back.

I shook my head, “I broke my promise to be a better mate, I’m the one who should be sorry p>

He moved to sit upright, pulling me closer to him, “Bella p>

“I know what you’re going to say, but I know I’m wrong. I disobeyed you in front of everyone,” The tears I was fighting came rushing out at once and worry flashed through his eyes.

“Then I took his side when you w-were only trying to protect me. I know you hate me now, but I’m-” His lips came crashing on mine, silencing me.

He pulled back before I could respond, his eyes meeting my gaze. “I was hurt, yes but I would never hate you. Not now, not ever p>

I nodded, wiping my face. “I love you p>

He smiled, “I love you, Bella p>

I don’t think I’ve hated hearing my name like I did the previous day when he didn’t

call me by his nickname for me.

“Can that punishment sex happen now? I’m curious.” Lylah chimed in and before I could stop myself, I giggled lightly and Kieran raised his eyebrows.

“It’s Lylah.” I told him and his eyes widened.

“She’s back?” He asked and I nodded. “What did she say p>

My face became red, “nothing p>

“It doesn’t seem like it was nothing.” He argued.

“Uhmm…just hug me, will you?” I said instead, and a chuckle left his lips as his

arms held me even tighter.
