Chapter 139
Chapter 142
Alpha Tyler’s POV
I can’t believe Clarissa would do something like this, a huge part of me was already trying to deny the possibility of her having a child before our first son. There was no way that could’ve happened without my knowledge considering we found each other really early but the resemblance between the boy and Kieran was uncanny.
Even after the evidence, I managed to convince myself that something else was at play but the past few weeks, her sudden disappearance left me questioning if I was protecting myself and pretending not to see what was happening.
But spells? She has gone too far this time.
Even a blind person could see how much both Kieran and Kaia cared for each other. Her position was never a problem…neither was it for me, as long as she made Kieran happy, I was fine. If Clarissa had been an ordinary wolf, I still would’ve taken her as my Luna without a second thought.
But for some reason, it didn’t sit well with Clarissa and she was my mate and I wanted to make sure she had her way but a part of me hoped that once she saw their bond, she’d let them be. It was one of the reasons I went behind her back to talk to the elders. If they insisted on separating them, that would be the end of their tenure in that position.
I had been so happy when she started putting efforts to make amends, but it was all a lie and I fell for it.
Once I got to the Pack house, I shifted back into my human form, running straight into the house.
“Where’s she? Where’s my daughter?” I asked, my voice booming through the house, the image of my daughter lying unconscious because of someone who was supposed to be her mother was all I could think about.
The Pack members moved out of the way, shaking their heads to my question. My Lycan was restless, pacing around in my head.
When there was no response, I proceeded to bang on whatever door I saw,
calling her name but nothing happened and I was so close to losing my mind. “Did Caleb lie about her being okay p>
“Alpha Tyler p>
My entire body jerked backwards at the sound, as I turned to see Ryder and Kaia standing behind me.
“Tell me where she is.” I repeated. That was the only thing that would calm the raging beast inside me. I had almost lost her once before she was even born, I’d be damned if I let anything or anyone harm her.
“She’s fine,” Kaia started, standing her ground. “But if you want to see her, you have to keep your Lycan under control p>
Hearing this, and the seriousness in her voice, my Lycan receded to the back of my head. “Please p>
She looked at me for a few seconds before leading the way to the room and it was different from the one she used to be in…unless it was the same thing and I just couldn’t remember it. I felt a pang of guilt when I realized that despite how much I claim to love her, I could count the number of times I’d been to her room… on one hand.
I stared at her sleeping figure and how peaceful she looked. It was just both of us as Kaia and Ryder chose to remain outside the door.
“I’m sorry I failed you,” I said, taking her hand which was easily covered by mine. “But that’s going to change now, I’m going to be the father you would be proud of p>
Placing a soft kiss on her forehead, and watched her for a while. A ruffling sound distracted me, as I heard Kieran’s voice through our mindlink. The urgency in his voice was hard to miss.
“Caleb is fighting Mom.” He told me, and my body tensed. “I can’t leave where I am now, find him.” He went ahead to tell me where he was.
This time, a decision was formed in my mind before I had time to analyze it, or even think about putting my mate first. I took another look at Allie’s unconscious body before standing up.
“And Dad, do what is right p>
“I plan to.” I thought, blocking him out as I threw the door open, catching Kaia and Ryder by surprise. They turned to me, brows furrowed in confusion but no question was asked.
“Take care of her.” I ordered, although there was a hint of plea in my voice.
Without waiting to hear their response, I took off running in the direction Kieran had described.
It didn’t take long for me to get there because of my speed, the smell of the warriors and their footprint were scattered everywhere and I followed the trail which led me to a cabin.
The warriors bowed their heads to greet, even as they struggled to hold a man who was barely recognizable but I could swear that the smell coming from him was oddly familiar.
“Who was he? If Clarissa was here, why was he here p>
I didn’t get an answer, instead, a loud sound of something falling, followed by painful groaning reached my ears, snapping me out of my thoughts as I quickly approached it.
The sight I was met with, was one I never saw coming as Clarissa’s Lycan launched itself towards Caleb, who, although had sustained multiple injuries, wasn’t giving up. Throwing myself in front of him, I pushed Clarissa away and she winced.
Once we were both on the floor, we slowly changed into our human. I saw that Caleb had also gotten a few deep scratches on her and for the first time, I wasn’t moved or concerned.
“Tyler darling, good thing you came.” She started, crawling closer to me. “They
just showed up and started fighting.” She continued, tears streaming down her face.
“Clarissa p>
“Nothing I do would ever please
Kieran.” She said, “I didn’t want you
to be heartbroken because I know how much getting along with them means to you…but a-after the
he treated me, I n-needed some time alone.” She finished, reaching out to touch me, but I snatched my hand out of her reach.
She gasped, “Tyler p>
I looked at Caleb, who was nursing his wounds. “Take her back to the Pack p>
“Yes, Alpha p>
I didn’t look at her…more like I couldn’t. The entire scene was just sinking in and the fact that she could still lie to me, after knowing she’d been caught, was heartbreaking.
“We’re doing the right thing.” My Lycan said, he was also trying to pretend that he wasn’t affected.
My chest tightened, as I struggled to keep calm as Caleb began leading her away.
“What are you doing? You don’t believe me?” She asked. “Don’t do this, I am your mate, you have to believe me.” She yelled.
It felt like my heart was being ripped out. I ran ahead of them, giving my Lycan a chance to take its mind off her and it was harder than it looked.
By the time I got back to the Pack, it was already night and I didn’t feel any better. It felt like a huge part of me was missing…a part I would never get back. I went straight to Kieran’s office, where he was sitting, alongside his Beta and Gamma.
“Thank you for saving my life, Alpha.” Caleb said, and I nodded.
That wouldn’t have happened if I had acted upon my suspicions. So in a way, I was to blame.
“She’s in the dungeon,” Kieran said, answering my unasked question. “The man with her is the father of her other son.” He added.
I nodded slowly before making my way out of the office and to the dungeon.
The darkness and smell of the dungeon hit me, the moment I stepped foot inside
and I followed Clarissa’s smell to the far end of the room. Her face lit up as soon as she saw me.
“I know you wouldn’t leave me here.” She said.
“For almost thirty years, I loved you, supported your every decision even against
our children p>
She nodded, “You did. You’re the best mate I could ever ask for p>
“Were you sleeping with him p>
“No…I mean no.” She replied, looking everywhere, but at me. “It was just once, it didn’t mean anything to me.” She said, when I didn’t say anything.
“Did it also mean nothing when you had a son after we were mated and you tried
to put a spell on Kaia but got Allison instead?
Her eyes widened, “No-no, I d-didn’t p>
“All this while, I let my emotions take decisions for me, but that ends now p>
The ache in my chest increased with each word that left my lips and I didn’t miss
the panicked tone in her voice when she spoke.
“What are you doing, Tyler?
“Something I should’ve done a long time ago, nobody…including you can hurt my
daughter and go scout free.” I replied.
“I, Tyler Blackwood, reject you, Clarissa Silver, as my mate p>
